I have owned cats for over 60 years. Between them and their vets, I have learned a great deal about how they tick.

Cats Are So Much Fun

Cats can seemingly speak without uttering a word. They believe they own you and you had better step up to the plate. And they can twist and turn while landing on their feet using incredible feats of acrobatic finesse Take a moment to read the poems I wrote for a glimpse of cat ownership and fun.

Did you ever see a cat look you in the eye?

Did you ever see a cat walking on the sly?

Did You Ever See a Cat

Did you ever see a cat flicking out his tail?

Did you ever see a cat following the trail?

Did you ever see a cat licking himself clean?

Did you ever see a cat acting real mean?

Did you ever see a cat playing with a box?

Did you ever see a cat crouching like a fox?

Did you ever see a cat hissing at a fiend?

Did you ever see a cat real sleek and lean?

Did you ever see a cat walking on a rail?

Did you ever see a cat jumping in a pail?

Did you ever see a cat sleeping out the day?

Did you ever see a cat wanting to go play?

Did you ever see a cat lying in the sun?

Did you ever see a cat having lots of fun?

Did you ever see a cat running crazily?

Did you ever see a cat strolling lazily?

Did you ever see a cat biting with his jaw?

Did you ever see a cat scratching with his claws?

Did you ever see a cat cuddle close with you?

Did you ever see a cat wanting you to cuddle too?

Did you ever see a cat lying in the sun?

Did you ever see a cat having lots of fun?

Why I Like

I love watching cats when they do silly stuff like run into something while chasing a laser then look at you as if to say "I meant to do that!" Cats will jump at things that are totally harmless and they will dance in circles chasing their own tail. They will stare at a spot for hours even though you can't see a thing. When you need someone to entertain you for hours and want attention just as much, then a cat may be right for you. I like that I don't have to bathe them or take them for a walk. While they often stink up the house with their poops, they will try (or at least most will try) to bury it to hide the scent. I know dogs are great and have owned many in my lifetime, and I know that the love of a dog is absolute. However, I feel cats have more of a personality. So, if you have never seen a cat do any of the things below, you might want to take a moment to watch, because they are sometimes very silly creatures.

Remember to spay and neuter your cats as early as possible and keep up with their shots, especially if they are outdoor or indoor/outdoor cats.

Additional Facts About Cats

  • Cats are one of the cleanest animals around.
  • Cats, like dogs, love unconditionally and give many second chances.
  • Cats will sleep with you, on you, and against you, but never when you want them to.
  • Cats have their own personality. Some will play fetch and carry with you and others will look insulted when you try to get them to do it.
  • Cats have great facial expressions. You can look at their face and almost hear their words.
  • Cats can help relieve stress, ease pain, and cause you to laugh (which is great for you).

Allergic to cats? Try getting one of the fur-less cats or using a medication that slows down or stops cats from shedding. It is the shedding and the dander of cats to which most people are allergic. Want to learn more about cats? Your vet is your first and best source of information.
