Kitties Wish List For Christmas!
It's that time of the year when my cats start giving me the look. They see the Christmas things going up and are trying to tell me what they want. As most animal lovers, I have come to the point where I can read my cats minds. I know exactly what they're thinking and trying to tell me. As humans, we have to talk. Cats can just give you a look!
Toys
The first thing they want is more toys, although why I don't know. My house looks like a pet store exploded in it and yet, they still want new toys. Cats can become bored very quickly and once they have worked a toy over for awhile, it is no longer appealing. They also get finicky about the smell of a toy. Maybe too many of the other cats have played with it and they want a fresh one.
To be honest, I have found the number one favorite toy is the little mice. They don't even care if they come in fur or any other material, they just love them. I find that so funny because we all know they aren't real mice, but to the cats, it doesn't matter...it's still a mouse. They have practically every toy known to be made for cats, but the mice are their addiction. Yes, they will get a new bag of mice for Christmas.
New Furniture
They already have three cat towers, but I know they are hoping for another one. My cats love their towers and have hours of fun on them. This is also one of their favorite napping spots. I know they love the feeling of being up on that top level, looking down at me. I can't blame them, it must get old being so little around huge people. We all like to feel powerful, at least once in awhile, and sitting way up there gives them that feeling.
I may get them a new piece of cat furniture, but my house is getting pretty full from the three large ones, so this may have to wait. Maybe a smaller one...I'm sure they'll wear me down to getting something along those lines!
Tunnels
Another favorite toy is the tunnel. They come in nylon, materials and all sorts of sizes . They have so much fun chasing each other in and out of those tunnels. They are also a great place to hide and then pounce out of when your brother or sister comes by! They also make the crinkle tunnel that makes that annoying sound when they play in it. My nerves can't take those, so I stick to the other kind.
I also have feral cats outside in their screened porch and the tunnels are great for them too. The nylon ones are perfect for this, as they dry out so quickly. Also, when it rains, they can get in their tunnels to stay dry. So tunnels, for both sets of cats, will be on my list.
Treats
I feel that everyone needs to have a treat at least once a day. For me, it is usually some dark chocolate. There are so many types of treats for kitties now that you can go wild with different flavors. Although you have to be sure not to go over board on them, a few a day is not going to hurt them. Some of them even have added benefits, such as hairball control and added vitamins. Treats will be added to the list.
Extra Attention
None of my cats feel they get enough attention, because for cats that means they have to get all the attention or it's not enough. They are quite greedy and selfish this way, but that's what makes them so endearing. I feel this is the easiest gift to give and I will definitely take that extra five minutes each day to give all of them an extra kiss. With all the unconditional love they give us, it's so easy to give it back and they deserve it.
Well, as you can see, the list is going to be filled. I'm a real sucker for making them happy, but isn't that what Christmas is about? They are just like children in my eyes and all children should be excited and happy at Christmas. If I can do that, that makes my Christmas complete. Happy Holidays to everyone, both two-legged and four-legged!
