Dogs and Their Antics:Meet Polka Dot Butt

*WOOF* (Hello)

Greetings and Salutations to all of you on Hub Pages!

My name is Bridgette, aka “Polka Dot Butt”. I am a Dalmatian Retriever Mix with a hint of pit. My Mommy says that the pit portion is identifiable when I get focused on a lizard and I don’t listen to her.

I’m not quite sure what she’s..huh?...what?? Lizard??? ......talking about.

I Love My New Mommy

Anyways, Mommy went shopping (no doubt for a treat for me) and I thought I would get on the computer and say hello to you and your “Fur Children” before she comes back.

My mommy is the best mommy in the whole world, but that doesn't stop her from being annoyed with me when I play with her computer or find that perfect spot between her bed pillows right after she puts her fresh laundered linens on them! Ohhhhh they smell so good and I just can't help myself. She thinks I need to be doing dog-like things..like chasing lizards for instance, not basking in the lavender scent of cotton!

My mommy adopted me this past June when my last mommy and daddy decided they didn't want me any longer. I didn't understand why they felt like that. I don’t think I did anything bad. But, just the same, they took my step brother “Harley” with them when they moved away and left me behind.

That’s when my new mommy showed up and said she would take care of me and love me.

I am so happy with my new mommy. She plays with me, feeds me good food, let’s me do “morning cuddles” with her and takes me “bye bye” every time she goes somewhere in the car. (Except this time as she went shopping..no doubt for a treat for me)

Taking Care of Mommy

When mommy doesn't feel good…. I lick her! I lick her face, her hands and even her toes. This is my way of taking care of her hurt or pain. I think I make her feel a little better, because she always smiles at me.

When mommy speaks to me, I listen very carefully. I sit right in front of her and stare at her. I do know about 10 words, however half the time I’m not quite sure what she is saying, but as long as I wag my tail and smile..she’s happy!

A Doggie's Concern

I do have to discuss one little "eensy weensy" thing.

Can anyone explain to me why mommies have this overwhelming need to dress us up in clothes and costumes???!?!

I mean really! I know she means well..but you try walking down the street with a big honkin’ Jack-o-lantern on your back! Before she got the pumpkin sweater, she put me in a jester collar with bells on it.

I hid it outside in the bushes…..shhhhhhh!!! Don’t tell her!

Ok, Ok, I know I look adorable.. but my fur friends tend to tease me a bit when they see me trying to look cool and sophisticated and my sweater looks like I just broke out of doggie prison!

Aside from the clothes and the dog talk, I can’t complain. No one has ever loved me this much. I plan on sticking around for a very long time so I can return the love to my mommy.

Update on the Clothes: I have to admit, I do have my favorite clothes to wear: Bandannas, hats, parkas, and sometimes sunglasses!

Signing Off... Quickly!

It’s been a… uh oh.. she’s home…. I need to go.. it was very nice meeting you! (looking out the window)

Yep..she went shopping… I see TREEEEEEEEAAAATTTTTTS!!!

Till we meet again!

Progress Update- May 2013

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to let you in on my progress with my new home. We moved back up to the mountains last summer and I experienced my first SNOW! At first I didn't know what to do with it. It made my paws all cold and numb at first, then I discovered that you can run and jump in it! I even did a little hunting, but the rabbits are a teeny bit faster then me.

One of the coolest things I discovered is that you can make a ball out the snow, and not only that, when mommy throws it at me and I catch it.. I also discovered I can EAT IT!

I am so happy to announce a new addition to our pack .....GRANDMA!!!! Most of you know her on Hubpages as vocalcoach

I LOVE HER sooooo much! She takes me on walks, feeds me "extra" cookies, looks the other way when I burp (from both ends) and even let's me sleep with her on occasion.

I LOVE MY LIFE!

Mommy has taught me some new words and phrases. The following is a list of what I know:

  • Sit
  • Stay
  • Down
  • Roll Over

  • Where's Daddy?
  • Where's the Mama?

You can type? Us too! Just like you, we get on the computer when our mom leaves the house. We're trying to hack her amazon.com password so we can order a bunch of cool chewtoys and treats. If we crack the code, we'll let you in on it!

PS, we actually kinda like your Halloween sweater.

Gee, we have so much in common. I'm a ShiZtu and you can call me Clancey. I'm a few yrs older than you and I wuz adopted by my mommy from a place I hated. I was only a couple of months old and cute as a button. Who could resist me? I know your mommy pretty well and can tell you that you are one lucky canine!

Just a couple of tips from an older dog here. First...your eyes can get you anything you want. Just stare at her long enough and she's a goner. Second...if she demands that you do something and you don't want to do it...just pretend you understand her. She will be so pleased (with herself) and she won't know the difference.

It's grrrrrrrrrrreat meeting you here on hubpages, Polka Dog Butt!

      Hi Clancey,

my mommy is still asleep, so I'm on here real quiet-like.

I agree with you, I have mastered the stare (I think) I've been able to get lots of cookies with the "stare".

Have you met Jessie and Charlie? (Their mommy is smartandfun(Hubname) Their trying to hack into their mommy's amazon.com account so they can order chew toys and other cool stuff. I think it would be wise to hang out with them. *Just sayin'*

PS. Nice to meet you too clancey. Pssst... does your mommy dress you funny too?

      Hello there PDB!

      Aren't you the clever K9?

I do believe you and your Mum are the perfect pair!

You do have my sympathies on the costuming. I had to go through the same thing myself when I was a kid, at least once a year.

About that lizard thing you've got going on ... have a little A.D.D. issue there, do you? You have my sympathies on that as well.

Was nice to meet you on the Hub. Perhaps we'll run into you again sometime soon. :)

Aaw, Polka Dot Butt is SO cute! I have human babies and fur babies. My dog and two cats are so dear to me :) When they're hurt I worry and it's just as much fun to buy both types of babies a new toy :)

Ardie. They are amazing, aren't they? They bring so much joy to us and unconditional love. Polka Dot has a Fur sibling (feline) named Annie. They love each other. Like yourself, I too enjoy buying toys for the both of them. However, sometime Polk Dot thinks that ALL the toys are hers!

Hi Bridgette! Nice to meet you! My name is Foxy. I'm a Toy Fox Terrier who adores her mommy's treats also. My mommy also yells at me for attacking lizards, but it's so much fun even though it's not healthy for us. My mommy doesn't allow me to lick her face, she's not a fan of that. We have a bunny that I practice sparring with. That's always fun. BTW I dig your sweater.

Take care my friend! Give your mommy lots of kisses for her bday!!

*Woof* foxy! I chase lizards too! One day I caught a great big one and mommy saw the tail and legs hanging out of my mouth.. she tried to get it away from me..but all I wanted to do was walk around and show it off to everyone. I don't know why she got so upset! I get to lick my mommies face, but not after I just licked something else! haha. I got my sweater at Walmart. I believe they have your size there too! Have a PETfabulous day! *woof woof* Polka Dot Butt aka Bridgette

Hey Polka, Have you ever tried to get a frog? They are fun also. I like the way they play dead when they know I'm watching, but I'm smarter then them. I'm a patient terrier. I flip their stiff bodies around with my paws, but I'm just playing with them. I heard if I kiss one I might become a princess, I'm already queen of my castle why would I want to step down?

Nice chatting with you again. I'm going to shop at Walmart.com and see if I could find myself a sweater. I'm more of a stripe kinda girl.

      Woof to you!:)
