The Hollywood Reporter says that the cinematography in this film is as well done as the stars are magnificent. " - African Cats Movie Review From Monsters and Critics

The L.A. Times says that despite the appearance of this movie as a family film, it is pretty serious stuff with enough "survival-oriented tension" to make them question the G rating. - African Cats Review From The New York Times.com
The New York Times says that the focus of this film on mothers and their cubs and the treatment like a story should not be a surprise, since it is a Disney film. However, it is not all nice...
What is African Cats Rated?
Is Disneynature's latest film suitable for children?
Disneynature's African Cats is rated G. However, it is a nature documentary and there are some scenes with animals hunting and dying. It is kind of 'neatly' done and there is not a lot of blood seen but there are 'characters' that go missing and there is implied death that may bother young children and/or adults who are squeamish. Having said that, there is a lot to learn in this movie about the African savanna and about how cheetahs and lions live and differ and about a mother's love.
Common Sense Media recommends it for children aged 6 and up.
