African Cats Review by Jeremy Jahns

What is African Cats Rated?

Is Disneynature's latest film suitable for children?

Disneynature's African Cats is rated G. However, it is a nature documentary and there are some scenes with animals hunting and dying. It is kind of 'neatly' done and there is not a lot of blood seen but there are 'characters' that go missing and there is implied death that may bother young children and/or adults who are squeamish. Having said that, there is a lot to learn in this movie about the African savanna and about how cheetahs and lions live and differ and about a mother's love.

Common Sense Media recommends it for children aged 6 and up.

The Other Disneynature Movies

Disneynature: Crimson Wing (2008)

The Mystery of the Flamingo

Crimson Wing was first released in 2008 in France and it was released internationally throughout 2009. The blu-ray and DVD became available in North American in 2010. I am not sure that it ever played in movie theatres in North America.

Disneynature Earth

Disneynature's Earth (2009)

Disney Nature's Earth was a hugely anticipated, widely debated release. It was the first Disneynature film released in North America.

Disneynature Oceans

Disneynature Oceans (2010)

The most recent of the Disneynature documentaries, Oceans was released in 2010 and took us all to places we've never seen.

These Disneynature movies sound like great documentaries. Helpful to have the guidance on disturbing scenes too as nature can be brutal. I bet 'African Cats' is fascinating though, certainly sounds it. Love that t-shirt!
