Dogs are like people... they snore. Some of us snore more than others just like some dogs. Also, some breeds snore more than others, particularly breeds with short noses, but bassets aren't especially prone to respiratory diseases so unless your little guy is having a hard time breathing while he is awake, it doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

Some dog breeds snore worse than others. I've never heard about bassets but each dog is different. You may want to consult your vet to check the dog's breathing pathways to see if they're blocked or thin.

I am hoping this will help you a bit.  I have to laugh.  I have a shepherd whom I discovered snoring so loud she woke me up out of a dead sleep....

Not believing it was the dog, naturally who got poked in the side until the dog woke me up again....

I gently went over and started talking to her and woke her up.   Amazingly, as a human, she moved around and went back to sleep.   A few times of waking her up while she was doing this and for some reason she stopped.    My guess is this....dogs are smart.  When they are asleep, they don't like being woke up any more than we do.....Waking her up gently like that helped my situation.....it is possible it may help you also.....And that dog was snoring loud too!    LOL    Hope it helps
