my gecko welnt eat after putting and taking sand out of his tank please help
he was on reptile carpet i put vita sand in and he throws up a wax worm now he welnt eat its been 2 days help
i used 2 raise/keep hamsters, & their habits changed a little after cleaning their tanks. they mark territories by their own scent. once bedding was changed, they had 2 reestablish things b4 returning 2 normal. it may b that yer gecko needs some adjusting 2 the clean sand, we never know. i'd ask the vet/pet store
Vita sand entices reptiles to eat it, and it doesn't dissolve in the body. It will cause impaction. Give the gecko time to adjust to the change in environment. Wax worms aren't good feeder insects and shouldn't be given ever; they are very fatty and addictive to geckos.
If the food is being thrown up or passed undigested, check your temperatures, as they may not be warm enough. Use a digital thermometer with a probe to accurately read the surface temperatures. Make sure they're right around 90F
