We are here in Brazil and have lakes so yes. we have them but haven't seen any nests. We have the cattle egret, snowy egret and the big one. (I can't recall the name)Giant egret perhaps. We have a tilapia farm and they sit on the cages, preening and trying to stab through the netting at the fish.
