    Caring For A Quaker Parakeet

I'm thinking of getting one of these lovely birds to keep me company during the day. Does anyone have experience with them and feel able to share information and tips about their care?

If you have to clean your oven, make sure you do it so you can put your bird outside until all of the fumes leave your house as oven cleaner will instantly kill birds.

Thank you. I didn't know that. I shall take great care.

These little guys are intelligent, even if not as big as an African Gray or Macaw. Do not treat him like a piece of furniture. Make sure you exercise him, play with him, and enjoy his company! Good luck--you have a lot of fun ahead of you.

Thanks and yes, I do appreciate the intelligence and need of these birds. he'll be housed in my work room and so we'll be together pretty much all of the day. My aim is to train him so that he can spend long periods out of his (spacious) cage as well
