Can I license my dog to be a service dog so I can bring her more places or is that wrong?
As it stands now, the law (Americans with Disabilities Act) does not require any certification or documentation for a dog to be considered a service dog.
All the person accompanying the dog has to say is, "This is a service dog," and the dog has to be permitted entry anywhere customers normally are allowed. The person doesn't have to produce documentation of his or her disability or any credentials for the dog.
Obviously this situation is ripe for abuse, but to answer your question simply, you can bring your dog anywhere you want to if you're willing to lie and claim you have a disability and that your dog is a service dog. But, it is wrong.
You can have your doctor write a prescription to have the animal be an Emotional Service Animal. You'll be able to take your dog to stores, etc. and if you are renting, your landlord has to allow the dog. However, I have to add that I am unaware if this applies outside the state of Ohio.
