How to create a stained glass window with tissue paper for Valentine's Day

Updated on February 13, 2012

1. Trace a heart design on a piece of heavy cardboard (it can be a recycled cereal box) and cut out the design with an x-acto knife.

2. Place the cardboard on a black sheet of construction paper and transfer your design using a pencil.

3. Cut out the heart design from the black construction paper with an x-acto knife.

4. Put some white glue around the hearts and cover the holes with coloured tissue paper.

5. Use adhesive tape to place the project on a window pane. This will highlight the stained glass effect.

If you want to use the hearts pattern I used, see the link in my hub on stencil painting.

Thank you very much Careermommy :-) I hope that he will like it! Your other option (that I made for my husband) is the bouquet of hearts with a message in each heart (it's another hub).

This is very cool kidscrafts. This is actually something I might do for my husband this weekend for his birthday. I think if I put this up in his office windows he'd get a kick out of it. Creative idea, voted up and shared!

Beautiful idea! You could do it each year around the same time and keep a trace of her growing feet! If you alternate it would be like steps in time! Good luck!

I can't wait to read more of your kids craft projects. I'm thinking of doing something similar with my daughter. But instead of hearts, I'll trace her feet. She has this thing with tracing her feet.
