Updated on August 25, 2011

Making Homemade Candles - Is it Hard?

Making Homemade candles do you think it is hard. Well i used to think so too. But in reality it is very easy. All that is required is around 10-20 minutes of your effort and that's it. The rest of the time that is needed is in cooling down the wax so it thickens. And that's pretty much it.

So what is need in making homemade candles?

  1. Container
  2. Wax
  3. Double boiler or any utensil
  4. Pre-tabbed wicks
  5. Glue
  6. Thermometer

So lets start making a candle:

First off start with wax put in the utensil and turn on the heat to keep it at a temperature of about 170-190 °F by the help of the thermometer (like duh :D). Let it melt and you proceed to the following step.

Secondly use the pre-tabbed wick and place it in the middle of the container and stick it by placing glue on its end.

Thirdly See if the wax has melted if not keep on stirring it for a while longer. When melted now pour the wax from the utensil in the container.Be careful not to drip it. And the wick must not be completely covered from the top.

Fourthly Let it cool for about 6-10 hours and trim the wick . And what do you know. You have made a beautiful Homemade Candle. Play with colors and fragrances to truly make it exciting and unique. Enjoy!
