...My Phantom Priestess...
...The Inspiration...
Quite a few weeks ago I was doing an oracle card reading and I pulled The High Priestess at a time where I was writing about doing more meditative work and using more of my crystals and herbs for what they are intended for. I had thought about my projects and candles and talismans laying unfinished and unused. I looked around at my jewelry and my papers and books and thought that even though I have an assignment for the writing group due...that I had to really not just work all day and night when I wasn't taking care of the boys.
...The Inclination...
Starting a new piece of art in my favorite medium is always spellbinding, pun intended. I find my Muse and She leads me away from the keyboard and into the pencils and papers and inks. She has other things in mind than I do and the whole process of organic creation goes and flows as it should. It is similar to writing in a way but there is more proof of Her presence here sometimes, like in this piece. The poppies again appeared and called for attention. The number nine has been prominent for a series of births and rebirths in my own circles and cycles. The ravens are always hovering close and in this inclination they are Her and She is their Mother. She is summoning them always as harbingers of the future, and I love Her.
...One Thing Leads to Another...
From the first view of the poppies in a symbols book to the parchment page that I used to illustrate what they are used for and have been associated with to this piece of work, it has been an evolving round of acknowledgements. The red petals of death was a title I had for a hub and changed it to "The Power of Poppies" because even in their heavily sedated state of assistance, their beauty is recalled with pleasant memories and recollections. They stand out to me primarily as being that gorgeous field of red in the Wonderful Wizard of Oz...but as I look back and one thing led to another - way back when I was creating the "Nevermore" Pendulum Board and I used Edgar Allan Poe's quotes from The Raven - I had also updated my status with the quote about sleep:
"Sleep, those little slices of death. Oh, how I loathe them."
Coincidences collide together and I used that quote on my poppy page as well...
So, you see how the Muse dances through fields of poppies, flies with the ravens and comes back again to divine the future - appearing as an impressive and elusive Lady whom I have no choice but to chase through the pages and paintings of my life...She does not stand still or come when called...and that be the challenge!
In gratitude, see you next time...

Nevermore - a Pendulum Board inspired by Edgar Allan Poes work The Raven This board was created quite intuitively as I was conversing with The Red
