Acrylic Paints To Buy

Acrylics are my main paint medium, as I've used them for years, back when I painted my model tanks and and lead soldier figurines, acrylic paint is a fast drying paint that is water based and can be diluted and quickly mixed with water to thin the paint down, but also let the paint be easily brushed onto the surface of paper or whatever you have primed ready for the paint wash to be applied.

Acrylic paint can be painted on with brushes but there are some artists who use pallette knives to slab the paint on to a canvas in layers and build up the paint that way for their art and I've seen some amazing art created this way, it's not something that I've personally done, but it could be good to try, although you waste a lot of paint that way, which is something I've always tried to avoid.

Again like watercolours, acrylic paints can be cheap or you can buy the top of the range paints, but choosing your paints really comes down to personal choice, as I always buy the really cheap acrylic paints, not because I don't have the money, but because cheap or the expensive paint, it's really about the surface on which you apply the paint, so even the cheapest acrylics can work up a masterpiece on canvas or primed painting paper.

Again Ebay and Amazon are the two top online sites at the moment where you can get a good range of different arts brands and makes of acrylic paints, although there are other specialist arts equipment sites like Dickblick.

Take a look at the acrylic paints below...

Acrylic Paint Set Varieties

Acrylic paint sets come in many varieties and numbers of paint tubes in packs and some paint sets are better than others, but a more wider known brand such as Reeves or Winsor And Newton are your best bet.

If your are like many artists who are on a budget then cheaper acrylic paints are just as good in most cases, if not better, but beware, there are some very inferior products on the market that promise good color and good brush application but that is not the case as the paint either crumbles or just doesn't look good on the painted surface.

So if in doubt, go with a trusted brand, like most products.
