A lot of times I had found that we are looked automatically like we are arrogant.  Either that, or the, how shall we say, administrative people in the office would seem envious of what we can do with certain programs... like they envied us or something... Not to say that being an animator isn't cooler than penguin shit... but every job has its perks, and everyone has their talents.  I wish I had a better grasp of my own English Language, hence I am writing pieces here to improve my skills.  Anyone can learn the skills to draw or paint... that doesn't make them creative.

Thanks for answering! I haven't been told anything negative to my face, but often when I tell people I'm an artist, they are surprised. I'm not what they expected. Often they tell me that they think of artists as being weird/eccentric/spacey/arrogant

the people that think like this are normally the ones that don't like to have their thunder stolen... or they see artwork as frivolous kid's play and is the same person that wonders why people get paid millions to hit a baseball.

Visual artists are presented with many obstacles when presenting their work. Not only are they great at what they do, but they are often also paid minimal for their work. I know many talented individuals who struggle to make a decent income through their work. Not all artists are successful or rich.

I also believe some people may think that visual artists smoke pot or do drugs. Of course this is believed because they have an excellent imagination.

haha! love the pot/drugs comment. I forget about that stereotype. I have yet to try making art while under the influence lol. Thanks for answering! smile
