What are some tips and tricks for food photography?
ex. putting maple syrup in the freezer for a few minutes to make it run 'slower' or using cream instead of milk for a 'whiter' milk...
I prefer close-ups and natural light. I like to see the color and texture of food in my pics. I also like to take pics as close to the window as possible on a bright, sunny day.
Photoshop is your best friend here, plus use a lot of beautiful props. Buy a food magazine and analyse photos in it. What type of tablecloths and cutlery and crockery is used? Put some fresh herbs/veg/jugs near the plate of food. Shoot in strong natural daylight. Then use photoshop to clean up the spotty bits and to enhance the colours!
