My car wont start.
I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. i used the cigarette lighte and smoke came out of the dashboard above the gadges. now the battery light comes on, the speedometer jumps around and when i start it it starts and dies a second later. Its not the battery. the alternater works. Its got gas. and not of the fuses a blown except the cig. lighter fuse i am stumped Please help!!!
I had a 2001 Mercury Sable and smoke came from the dash board on a start one day. Got it running long enough to get down to the ford shop and it turned up that a vacuum hose (?) in the engine area was shot, which caused the smoke. Still don't know what exactly a vacuum hose in the engine is, but it was a $6.95 part--of course compounded with an $80 labor charge.
Are you positive its not the alternator? Have you tried changing the fuse for the cig lighter?
