If someone gets their car stuck while joyriding on a construction site, what are the penalties...
they can expect?
I am a Texas Lawyer so my answer will be limited to Texas Law, I also do not have many facts, so do not rely on my answer, you should consult with a local criminal defense lawyer if you need to know more information.
Bottom line, the potential penalties will vary depending on the type of damage you did. At the very least you could be charged with trespassing (usually a slap on the wrist penalty), or it could range all the way up to a felony (if you did thousands of dollars in damage).
My best advice: Don't joyride on a construction site, if you already have and it looks like you will face criminal charges, call a good lawyer.
IN Canada its a fine for being on Private Property, public mischief whether damage is caused or not, and should damages occur you can be sued by the owners at their discretion + damages X10. SO you can see its not worth it, and we don't hear of it much either. YOU will aso go to jail for 24 hrs (Canadian Law) for 24 hrs at which time bail can be set or revoked, and charges laid too. I did it in 1971 and it took a while to get everything paid off.
