Can charging your phone on a car charger kill your vehicle battery?
I left the phone charging when I went into the grocery store and when I came out 15 minutes later the battery was dead. No click, no rumble, nothing. It's a lonely feeling when your vehicle won't start even when there are people all around you in the parking lot. Did charging the phone kill it? It was pretty old but it had worked fine up to then.
Not likely. A car battery has 12 volts and a cell phone battery can only hold between 1.2 to 7 volts, depending on the phone. Unless your car battery was already low (which is shouldn't be if it's in good shape and you were just running it) or there is a problem with your alternator, your cell phone battery shouldn't be able to drain your car battery.
no... must be something else or just a dying battery. especially if it only took 15 mins.
It's another problem. You can't kill a battery within fifteen minutes of charging a phone on it. Have you checked the fluids in your battery? If it's an old battery, it might simply be time for changing it out. If it's not your battery, I would be checking the alternator or even the starter.

Does it really kill your car battery to jump someone else's car?I heard that you may be doing harm to your own car's battery by helping someone jump start their car. Is this true? Why would that be the case?

I went out to start my car today and it wouldn't start. After eleven years, the battery finally died, and being the teen girl I am, I know very little about cars. I found a friend with jumper cables who's willing to give me a jump, but beyond that I'm not sure what to do. How long will the battery...
