Don't Think and Drive- Stay Alive

Updated on January 7, 2013
The scenery may be beautiful- but keep your eyes on the road!

I leave work on a positive note

Put my things in my car

Never thinking about the poem yet to be wrote

I look to the sky and think I see a shooting star

Source

As I drive, I gaze at the luminous light

Peeking through the clouds above

I reflect on my accomplishments- they feel so right

Nature- I am a part of

Source

I consider taking a photograph of the sight

But I pause.....

I wish I could remember the delight

Because......

While I am appreciating nature and all of its' glory

An officer is doing his job

This feels like my life story

It makes me want to sob

Source

When one good moment happens, another turns bad

I see the flashing lights behind- I can not flee

The officer writes my ticket on his message pad

Speeding in a work zone- why me?

The moral of the story is- Always pay attention behind the wheel

Because that ticket could cost you a great deal!

Good poem. You let us follow your thoughts, then you hit us with the moral. Thanks for a good read.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Natashalh!

I concur that the work zones are enough already; I can't wait until all of the construction is done! I've seen enough orange and white cones to last a life time!

When I saw that picture I immediatly thought of SC and, when I saw who wrote it, I realized it probably was and I knew I had to click though!

Amusing poem. I am also sick of all the work zones around here - I feel like it's been impossible to get anywhere in Charleston in the past year because of all the construction that has mostly just made things less convenient, even after the construction crews are gone.

Those tickets have gotten quite expensive, haven't they?

      Fun poem....and important message!
