"Crowdsourcing is really the biggest paradigm shift in innovation since the Industrial Revolution." MIT Professor Eric von Hippel, Specialist in Innovation Management

The buzzword CROWDSOURCING was first coined in June 2006 in an article published in Wired Magazine by Jeff Howe, The Rise of Crowdsourcing.

My simple definition of crowdsourcing is: outsourcing to a crowd.

CROWDSOURCING SYNONYMS USED ALL OVER THE WORLD

  • Crowdcasting
  • Open sourcing
  • Open innovation
  • Crowdfunding
  • Fansourcing
  • Wikinomics

Crowdsourcing is the process of outsourcing tasks that were traditionally performed by an employee or contractor. An open call goes out to an undefined, large group of people (crowd) by use of the internet. Businesses are able to tap into the collective intelligence of the public at large as tasks are outsourced to the crowd rather than being completed in house. Current technology allows businesses the potential to recruit greater numbers of people to perform simple, complex and creative tasks at a significantly reduced cost, minimizing research and labor expenses.

Taking part in crowdsourcing opportunities can earn you rewards such as recognition, free products & services and royalties.

EVEN MORE EXCITING are those companies where you are compensated in “cash” for your time and hard work, usually through deposits to your bank or PayPal account.

I HAVE RESEARCHED AND READ MANY REVIEWS FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE MONEY ON LINE, ONLY TO OFTEN BE DISAPPOINTED.

But I have found a crowdsourcing company that I have been working with since February 2011 and have earned a “paycheck” every week.

The Clickworker concept is that businesses can profit from the power and creativity of the “clickworkers,” i.e., the independent contractors registered on their platform. That is what I am, an “independent clickworker.” Anyone who enjoys writing, editing, translating, researching and/or data processing can earn money working independently on their own schedule. All you need is a computer with internet access.

MY JOURNEY ON CLICKWORKER.COM (Feb. 2011-Jan. 2012 Update Below)

The first thing I had to complete was a fairly easy English language assessment qualifying me for projects in English. Assessments in many other languages are available. If you know more than one language, you can also qualify to translate text.

Second, I completed additional assessments to qualify for specific projects. For example, I took the quiz to qualify as an author for English texts.

Here are some examples of the many jobs I have completed. Each job specifies, up front, the exact earnings you will receive if completed accurately.

> > > Travel Data Research Projects (the 1st job I tried)

I am given travel dates, a destination and the search criteria. I type in my zip code and the nearest airport. The job will either be to search for airline flights, hotels or car rentals. I click on “search” and click on one of the suppliers available such as Expedia, Kayak, Orbitz, etc. I then type the top three search engine results into the form provided and click save. I get $.12 cents per job. Of course, over time I have gotten quite efficient at these “micro jobs.” I can complete one in 60 seconds. Therefore, my average wage per hour would equal approximately $7.20. There is a limit of how many of these specific searches can be completed in a 24-hour period. So I moved on to qualifying for other types of jobs.

> > > Author and Editor for English Text Projects (I really like the writing projects)

I’ve written 500-word SEO focused descriptions for specific Cruise Lines and made $6.80 per job. I’ve written instructions for specific topics such as detailed rules for playing poker and made $13 per job. I got paid to proofread and edit other worker’s text. And I have made a little money writing answers to questions, similar to E-how.com.

> > > Other Miscellaneous Projects

I’ve completed other miscellaneous jobs as well such as placing ads on Craigslist and taking surveys that have added to my earnings.

> > > Offline Clickworker.com Projects

Clickworker.com has recently begun acquiring jobs that are off line. One job that I have completed was to visit and research hotels in the area where I live. Specific hotels were assigned to me that I had to visit and obtain information such as floor maps, fact sheets and business cards. I scanned these documents into my computer and entered them into the Clickworker system. For each job I completed that included all the specific documents requested, I earned $26 each. These jobs have boosted my earnings remarkably.

JANUARY 2012 UPDATE ~ ALMOST ONE YEAR WORKING FOR CLICKWORKER.COM

I am happy to announce that I continue to earn a weekly paycheck working for Clickworker.com. This part-time work has really helped supplement my income. The most recent job that I have been doing for many months now is to:

>>> Evaluate English Text Assessments

People that are interested in writing for Clickworker.com compose an individual text, 90 - 120 words, written about one of three themes with specific criteria. I evaluate the text according to 1) proper spelling and grammar; 2) expression, style and flow; 3) voice and originality; and 4) was the topic met.

For each job I complete, I earn $.50 ~ With this job, I earn an average of $12.00 per hour.

MY AVERAGE MONTHLY INCOME as of JANUARY 2012 is $350!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WORKING FOR CLICKWORKER.COM?

Clickworker.com has a referral program. For every person that a current clickworker recruits, they will receive $5 after the new person earns their first $10.

Of course this is not a requirement to join. But if you do not mind if I receive a referral bonus, I would appreciate if you would send me a message through the Contact Sharyn’s Slant link on this page. Let me know your name and email address. I will then log in to the clickworker.com website and submit your information. You will immediately receive an email. Once you become a clickworker, you will have the opportunity to earn the same bonus when you refer others as well.

Thank you and best wishes!
