Highest Paying Jobs in America

A website connected with national education services as well as Employment and Training (E & T) and our government sponsored Career One Stops network throughout the US is AceNet or http://www.acenet.org/. This site also lists the highest paying jobs in the country, figured by hourly wage equivalent, but at salaries of over $146,000 per year. All of the following jobs listed are at the top of this collection of well paying positions.

The following jobs would all pay over $70 per hour, if figured on an 40-hour-work-week hourly basis:

  1. Airline Pilots, Copilots, and Flight Engineers. Note: Numbers of openings for these positions decreased significantly over the 18 months ending July 2009.
  2. Physicians - Anesthesiologists. Note: Physician job listings have increased overall from 2008 - 2012. Also note that while earning potential is high for physicians, their Malpractice Insurance premiums have increased significantly in recent years and pose a major expense.
  3. Chief Executives - e.g., CEO, CFO
  4. Physicians - Family & General Practitioners
  5. Physicians - General Internists
  6. Physicians - Obstetricians and Gynecologists
  7. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
  8. Orthodontists
  9. All "other" Physicians and Surgeons
  10. Prosthodontists - Dentistry
  11. Psychiatrists - Note: job listings for this position increased 46% from January 2008 through July 2009 and have steadily increased since January 2005 through to early 2012.
  12. Physicians - Surgeons

Notice that most of this list is involved in Healthcare. for the entire list of the Top 50 Highest Paying Jobs, click the embedded link. A similar Top 20 list posted by MSNBC includes only jobs around $120,000/year and lower.

High Pay in America & The UK

In America, one way to find high paying jobs is to use the Internet Job Search engines Indeed.com, Simplyhired.com and similar sites, and search by salary range.

In the UK, it is useful to read the recent "2009 Salary Survey" and search for the high paying job titles on SimplyHired UK. You can do this by accessing the embedded link.

Examples below are from some American-focused Internet Job Search & Trending Engines. Not all can be searched according to salary and nationwide job listings. In addition, many jobs are not advertised or listed on Internet sites at all, but this is a starting point.

Texas Health Resources Jobs

Current jobs through the year 2020

During Autumn 2009, over 2.6 million jobs were advertised by a total among all online sources and 630,000 of these jobs advertised a starting salary of $80,000 or more per year.

By 2013, over 7,000,000 job openings were listed for America.

About 375,000 of the 2009 positions advertised a starting salary of $100K and beyond. Overall, Healthcare Jobs that include the specific listings here have been projected by the US Department of Labor to be expected to increase in numbers through the year 2016 or 2020, at least.

Most of these high paying jobs are in the Healthcare Industry and require significant education and training beyond high school and some, beyond any 4-year colleges.

These job titles included the following in the greatest numbers:

      Orthodontist Poway 6 years ago

Seeking out any dental schools in your local area is a great place to start. These institutions will most likely have trained local practitioners and will be able to offer solid recommendations. Be sure to ask for the names and contacts of practicing faculty members

When wading through the options, another resource worth looking into is friends and family. Ask around to when if someone you know has had success with a certain practice, and find out about their experience. In the case of a good review, inquire as to the costs to see whether a similar procedure is within your budget.

It's true, there is good money to be had in the Orthodonty profession.

That being said, there is initial overhead and expenses to be covered - as well as the need to constantly find new clientelle. Where a dentist often has a client for a lifetime, an orthodontist often only does the braces.
