Recruitment Prospects in RBI - Grade B | Assistants | Others

Updated on November 5, 2012
Source

This is the time when good jobs are rare. It is very important to have a good idea about all the possible options. In the recent past Reserve Bank of India has beefed up its hiring policy to emerge as a leading employer in the crunched job market. There are a lot of benefits of working at RBI (which I have covered in a different thread). But the obvious first step is to get hired before we can think of relishing the benefits. There are plenty of entry options in RBI. It is bad that RBI doesn't advertise on job sites or newspapers (except Employment News). From this article we will have enough knowledge to know about your suitability, eligibility and prospects of going to RBI.

Employee Strength of RBI

Before briefing you with RBI recruitment policy it is essential to give you an idea about the employee strength of RBI. Seniority in RBI is determined by Group. Group 'A' is lower while Group 'F' is at higher level. For example, Governor and Deputy-Governors will be in Group 'F'. All Officers from Group 'A' to 'F' are called Class-I employees. RBI also has a large number of Class-III and Class-IV employees which work as service staff.

Grade/Designation

It is mentioned in the site that "Age (as on 01/06/2014): Between 21 and 30 years (candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/06/1984 and not later than 01/06/1993). For candidates having experience as an officer in Commercial Bank/Financial Institution in Public Sector as also prior experience in Reserve Bank of India, upper age limit is relaxed to the extent of number of years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For such candidates, upper age limit should not exceed 33 years including experience."

My doubt is "Next year by this time I will be completing 29 and half years and around 4 years experience in Commercial bank".Whether I will be eligible to sit for the exam.

none of the last 6-7 RBI Governers were RBI employee or raised from Officer grade. All of them became Governer through IAS/IRS. So if your final aim is Governer post in RBI, IAS is better option. Unlike RBI all other Banks' head were once PO

@ROHIT : You should immediately get in touch with the Service board through call and also mail them your letter regarding this. This may be corrected.

@NAZIA : Yes, but I have Mains papers. I will post them soon. RBI doesn't let the candidates to take back Pre exam Q papers. All those Q papers in prep books are based on memory or made up.

@Ami15: you will get around 2 months after phase1 results. I thnk that this much time is sufficient if managed well.

@gurpreet: as far as I undrstand , you want to know the position and/or location of grade B post. It is a manager level post and the location can be anywhere in India (state capitals only except nagpur). There is high probability of being posted at mumbai.

@be good: No, remember RBI is a Govt job but not civil Service. UPSC conducts exams for Civilservices only. Even for ad hoc adverts of UPSC I have never seen any recruitment in RBI. RBI has a separate recruitment wing.
