Kenyan Entrepreneur Who Makes Shoes Out of Recycled material
I did not plan to write about this, but this young man just caught my attention. He makes low-cost shoes out of waste pieces of cloth and car tyres. They looked nice for with the different designs that he had.
Entrepreneurship is something like this. And many youths, especially in developing countries, try to be creative, but the challenge they face is the people to support their businesses. This young man just made my day, and I thought I could share with you.
Making a living out of a talent can be easier for you who are lucky to be in countries where you have platforms to showcase your talent, it is hard here in Kenya because of the social differences created mostly by the political class. That is my opinion. So I believe that business owners like this young man are the ones that drive this economy by walking from office to office trying to make sales of their innovations.
After having so much concentration on traditional small business for some time, I once got a call from the United States someone asking about value end products like honey, tea tree plants and solar energy. Our company had concentrated on the products for a while because of the nature of such business, most people view them as risky and therefore a lot of contract activities and partnerships.
Having products made from recycled material is something I have thought of, even having open shoes from waste tyres but never thought of fashionable shoes made from both cloth and tyres from this part of the world.
Where to Get Old Clothing and Rags
Most of these shoes are made from heavy clothing material like the jeans trousers. He collects the material from neighbors and friends. Some also needs to be at the dumping site to get the material before it decomposes. But he rarely does that. His business is farely small and he haven't made enough sales to keep him to his toes.
The leso's as are popularly know here also provide good cover for totally worn out jeans. Because of their richness in colour, they provided an ingredient for various designs which are attractive and nice to where. especially for those who enjoying conspicuous looks.
Where to get the tyres
The process of collecting waste material for the shoes can be very degrading. So you know that this will force you visit garages, dumping sites to collect the old torn tyres. This will take days for him since he needs to make a living but not mugging people or selling drugs but by recycling materials and contributing to green environment.
These used tyres are the same that are burnt. They produce toxic smoke that is not healthy for the environment. The best way to reduce the amount if carbon monoxide in the air is to reuse. Do you have any waste tyres around your town. what do you with them when you can not reuse?
The major advantage with this tyre shoes is that they are durable and need little repair. The pricing of the shoes are fair about 1500 kenya shillings. I guess that can be converted to your local currency and compare the costs.
Talent is Key for your success
What you were born with naturally is what can propel you to the next level of your career or business life. But the challenge with is who are raised in developing countries realizing what you can do is difficult. The education systems does not help. People are forced to do mathematics and pass. When they fail a two hour exam their dreams are shuttered.
- Just try your hands in anything you can do. But don't mug people.
- Find like minded people in your are of interest. make them friends. Then create a network of people who can help you grow.
- It is risky not to risk. So just risk
Creativity is the mother of entrepreneurship, Innovation as well. The difference is how far are you going to take it.
Make you nice product and then market it. This will involve asking friends for referrals, walking in to offices and explaining to them how this will look good on them. It is a task and that is why you need to be convincing.
Ignore negative criticisms and embrace positive criticism which will create. I know many people who love value end products like this which create good quality products that reduce over reliance on employment.

Truth
People love products that they can identify with. People love their mothers food. And since charity begind at home, if you do a nice product people will definitely buy. Especially shoes since people have to walk everyday.
There is a lot of waste in our cities today. the waste pollute the environment and this leads to global warming. You can help make the planet more friendly and habitable for generations to come. Be the hummingbird, when the forest catches first do the little you can do to save your dwelling.
There is potential in everyone to do great exploits. Have you identified yours? that is the only way you can be unique and relevant.
Hey if you want to support this young by buying from him just leave me a message. He said he can ship them for you.
