Power of words - the power to choose
Power of words - the power to choose
Our words go before us to announce the person that we are, the words we speak are enough to paint a picture of us. This is the power of words, but we have the power to choose them. We really need to take note of what we say. When we open our mouth and say something, it is released to work its way through all eternity. You can never take it back; maybe, the best you can do is just apologize for what you said.
The power of words to convey your wishes, your thoughts, your desires, your aspirations and all that you are made up of is irrefutable. Your words communicate the person that you are. Your words are powerful; they have the power to create or destroy. Your words whether you realize it or not, have an impact on people, their emotions, their aspirations and their growth. Your words have power.
Your words can achieve what you want : Have you noticed that you can be in one place, lift your phone and accomplish something in another corner of the world? So remember that every time you open your mouth and say something, you release the power of words. You have the power to choose the right words today. You can exercise the right to choose - to build people, or break people. Life is all about the choices we make. Every moment we make choices, what kind of choices do you make?
Do you exercise the power to choose, the power of words?
Consider this quote, Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. – Josh Billings
Have you ever considered what your words do? Most of the time, we speak without giving our words much thought. Our words do much more than we are ever willing to give them credit for. We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out. - Winston Churchill.
The power of the unspoken words
I admire two people - my husband and a friend of mine - for their measured speech. They never open their mouth until they have heard out fully what the other person has to say. Their response to a full two-minute speech would probably be, “Oh, I see your point”, which would hardly give away what they think. I have noticed that they ruminate over the words in their mind, turn it upside down, sideways, vertical, lateral, until they arrive at something, and this something is usually a profound something.
I have always admired this quality, for I am used to blurting out words; and when it is done, I think about what I've said, and may have had to apologize a few times in the past. But don’t judge me yet. I’m getting there. I’d like to say this, what you admire, you aspire to be, what you aspire to be, you become. Your aspiration makes you so passionate and your passion takes you well beyond the halfway mark. I believe that I am learning to exercise the power to choose rightly.
Words have power, words are powerful tools
Words are powerful tools. They are like a sharp knife, which you can use to cut, design and create a work of art; but if you use it carelessly, you could end up cutting the very hand with which you work. It would be worthwhile to learn how to use words, especially if you are in a profession of using words for a livelihood. Remember that your words influence and touch people and their lives.
All our words are but crumbs that fall down from the feast of the mind - Kahlil Gibran
Words are the voice of your heart - the power of words over emotions
I always try to put this piece of advice into practice - “Respond, don’t react”. The other day, I was challenged by a question - “Are you a writer?” My earlier reaction would have been a cutting reply to the remark. But I have learned to respond. I gave the question some consideration, I decided quietly to myself that I am a writer, a writer with a heart. Even though I think with my head, I am passionate about what I have to share. I know the power of words, and am careful to use them with a lot of gentleness and thought.
Words are the voice of the heart. – Confucius. Your words should reflect who you are. If I profess to being a person of high moral standards and integrity, I need to come across as that in both words and deeds. My words do not stand apart from me.
The power of positive words
Let your words always be positive. Now, to make sure that your words are always positive, you need to meditate upon and think positive thoughts. What is inside of you is what will come out. Make it a point to say words that are positive about yourself. Positive affirmation or power affirmation helps you feel good about yourself, and you will be able to extend the same warmth and goodwill to others.
Warmth and goodwill extended to one person not only makes that person happy, but spreads the joy to others around and the chain goes on. I would like to add one more aspect to this - with a good word, add a bright smile. Your smile can light up many a gloomy heart like your words can.

The power of words to build people
Think about what you say before you blurt it out. Measure your words and weigh them out before you spill them. The Bible says that even a fool may be considered to be wise if he uses his words sparingly.
Let your words build. There are enough people already in this world who are critical and judgmental. You don’t need to add to their numbers. You can use your words to appreciate, praise, nurture, bring out the best in people, reinforce good behavior, draw them out of their shells and nudge and prod them to be their best self.
This is the power that is vested in your words. This is aprivilege that you need to exercise with caution. You have the power to create not just literature but at times successful human beings.
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love - Lao Tzu
Let your words show compassion and concern for others. Words of love or compassion create an atmosphere that is conducive to make people bloom surer than criticism ever can. I have seen many a young person who has come to me with a problem bloom into a confident, happy individual because I chose to invest my time, concern and compassion in them.
The power of negative words
Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace - Buddha
Berating people and making them appear small says a lot about you and your attitude. Never indulge in that, for you will extend the same favor to yourself, and will soon will be on a downward spiral.
Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.- Napoleon Hill
You can kill enthusiasm or talent with a few words of criticism or negativity. You could spoil what would have been the greatest relationship or the opportunity of your lifetime by being inconsiderate. There is a lot to lose and very little to be gained from being negative and using words harshly.
The words that come out of an idle mind or in a rush of anger can cause more harm than others. When in anger, you have gone beneath the surface of the conscious mind to bring out past negative associations, and hence react to the present situation in a disproportionate manner. Anger begets hatred. Hateful words destroy and kill the very spirit of the person. Idle words are just based on assumptions and not reality, so they may actually be slander and destroy others.
In conclusion
Use words to share wisdom, happiness, love, peace, understanding, appreciation and concern, and the world will indeed be a better place because of you and your words!!
This I say from my heart, as a person, as a writer to you my reader. .. Thank you for having given this piece your valuable time.
