Search Engine Optimization Placement; Best SEO

Updated on September 24, 2012

A Better Search Engine Ranking

A better search engine ranking is like gold to a blogger, Hupbages writer, or an eBook author. The key to blogging success is to find ways to help Web surfers find your blog as a result of their search engine queries.

Search Engine Optimization, or seo, is the process of adjusting your web pages to increase their rankings in search engine searches.

If I were to write a blog about dieting, I must consider that if people are going to type "dieting" into their Google, or yahoo search bar they probably would not find my blog. The reason for this is that millions of Web sites and Web pages are dedicated to dieting. There is way too much competition with dieting, and a successful blogger will have to use some creative thinking in the SEO department.

Besides good SEO tactics, you should also work on increasing your blog's page rank by writting useful content, networking, and generating incoming links, from popular sites in particular.

There are many search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, Aol, and Ask, ect., however, the big two are Google and Yahoo, approximately 50% of your visitors will be using one of these, making it wise to focus on these two until you feel comfortable and ready to venture out.

Use The Google Keyword Tool

Type in the word or phrase you are considering and compare competition with global searches.

SEO and Beyond

When someone decides that they want to know something, they go to their computer and type in a few words or a phrases and the search engine returns results that are relevant to the words that they have been typed. Most people, including myself, seldom look beyond the first few pages of results, which equals to approximately 30 results. If your blog is not within those thirty, you more than likely will not be found.

To give your blog a better edge, post frequently. With each new blog post you are creating another opening to your blog, and the better chance that one of your posts will appear when someone types in information that your blog may help them with.

Most bloggers use a keyword analysis tool to assist them in determining their key works. Google Adwords is a great place to start.

Type in the phrase you would like to use, and notice those high competition searches. You probably do not want to delve into the fire with the crowd. Most bloggers use either medium or low competition words or phrases that are connected to the highest number of global monthly services.

SEO and Link Building

Besides Search Engine Optimization with key words, SEO can be improved dramatically by link building. As a blogger or writer, be sure to attract incoming links from popular Web sites. Search engine sites rank pages with many incoming links higher than those with few incoming links. Search engines assume that because you have a lot of links, that your blog must be popular, and therefore it rewards you with a higher rank.

How to gain incoming links.

  • Writing very in depth, and detailed posts is probably the best way to gain incoming links.
  • Write some Hubs on Hubpages, and some blog posts and interlink them.
  • Network with other bloggers and link to their pages.

Search Engine Placement

Here are a few suggestions to increase search engine placement.

  • Use your keyword in your blog post titles, as titles carry more clout than any other text with search engines.
  • Be sure to use the keyword in the first paragraph
  • Use your keyword or phrase around links to your posts
  • Use variations of your keyword.
  • Always interlink your blog posts.

Checking on your SEO

Search engine placement would not be complete without checking your page rank and links. You may track your progress by looking up your page rank and and the number of incoming links to your blog. There are many free sites that allow you to do this. Here is a list of sites to try.

SEO is something of a mystery to most of us. I have a few articles that rank on page one, but many others that fall far lower on the totem pole. Thanks for the great hub!

      Thank you sandrabusby.

I forgot to include the Google Keyword tool link. I am about to add it.

If you go to Google Keyword Tool and type in the phrase you are thinking of,it will give you a list of similarities and how much competition and how many searches there are.

Thanks. I found some useful information in your hub, but I'm afraid I'm still very much in the dark on this issue.

Haha. I was working for a few days.

What a sweet and kind compliment. I truly appreciate it.

I know what you mean about SEO overload. I have it too. It can be confusing and then frustrating. At a certain point you just don't want to bother with them.
