Is the true number of jobs being lost per month being accurately reported?
We have 10,000 Baby Boomers retiring per day and will for the next 13 years. Why is the unemployment rate still at 9.2% with all these jobs opening up? If those jobs are being filled, then the rate that jobs are being lossed is actually much higher than it is being projected.
I think the general rule to go by is 1. if it's on tv - it's either propaganda or entertainment and should never be thought of as representing reality in any way whatsoever 2. radio - rinse and repeat.
You hit it on the head. George Friedman talked about this (sort of) in "The Next 100 Years" where he talked about how it would be almost impossible to fill all of the available positions once the baby boomers retired. In fact, he went so far as to state that we may have to "encourage" immigration from Mexico to fill the void. The economic downturn is just a convenient excuse for large employers to squash the little guys who can't keep their doors open. Then, they lower wages and force one employee to do the work of three. Of course, no one will complain or quit because they are fearful of not finding another job...as they should be. Some states, with pressure from lobbyists, have gone so far as to outlaw unions and collective bargaining. The gap is widening. Let's also not forget that the current administration, in an election year, has a vested interest in painting a rosy picture.
@Wesman Todd Shaw Thanks for the input. I think it was well put!
@Jonesy0311 That is interesting. I also mentioned something similar about the Mexican Immigration in my hub, The Baby Boomers Housing Market.
So the baby boomers are retiring? So what? They dont make enough money after retirement to survive so many if not most of them go right back to work. They take all the lower income jobs left out there, the jobs once monopolized by students and the like. I know because where I used to work 8 out of 10 of us were retired and getting pensions. While I was trying to survive they were living high off the hog collecting SSI and pensions! So, while their industrial jobs are opened up they do not leave the job market and thus are not leaving open positions for those of us who are not retired. Its a damn jokebut you cant blame them with ridiculous costs of medical coverage, bills and the skyrocketing costs of food.
Then you get reports that the unemployment rate is falling! No. People are running out of unemployement money and thus no longer being monitored by the mighty ineffectual system. Thus they are no longer a part of the "Official" equation. Then you have those who find seasonal jobs like working for home depot, Lowes or a landscaping company. This is not permanent employment but the suits pretend it means something. It does not. These people will be back on unemployment in six months and back to the drawing board they go. Somebody needs to get the thumb out of their ass, stop filibustering and start doing what they are paid (and given pensions for the rest of their lives) to do!

This is, of course, an open question since he has just started his four years, but since the RINO Party is already saying defeating Covid and growing the economy is a disaster, I thought I would start a thread that proves them wrong.I just listed two things he has done:- Got America well on its way...

Many baby boomers seem to delight in accusing young people of being lazy, not willing to work hard etc. What these baby boomers fail to take into account or to realize is that they grew up and entered adulthood and the workforce when America was at its strongest economically and politically (ie....
