My previous Employer has sent my Current Employer a copy of a Private and confidential letter...
I received a letter from my previous letter a few weeks ago and my current employer informed me last week that she has been sent a copy of this letter, which she has given to me.
Can my PE do this without my consent?
They definitely cannot send anything to your current employer legally. That's why if you're applying for a new job they ask you if they have consent to contact your previous employer about you. That's a matter you should deff. look into deeper with a lawyer if you feel it's serious enough.
It is unethical, but can it be considered illegal on its face? I doubt it.
