I'm not sure of Chinese business practice, but because my paternal family come from Jewish areas of North London, I remember them telling me about the Jewish small businesses in those areas. Apparently they all help each other, rivals or not, if they can help, they will never let another business man sink. Whether that is so now, I don't know.
