I like to have hobbies that keep my mind occupied while I'm at my day job. Not to the point of unsafe distraction, mind you. But I take notes on my cell phone when I get an idea during the day, and might even knock out a blog post on a local library computer during my lunch break. I hit the ground running with hobby work (writing!) when I arrive home at the end of the day. Get up early to knock out important work that requires concentration before I go to dreary day job. And then sometimes hobbies turn into day jobs. :-) (I've been working since I was 13, actually drove a hay-bailing truck at 11, worked for 36 years so far, plan to retire early to just write and travel.)
