Ways to motivate lazy people at the office?
What are some ways to help motivate lazy people at work, so they could contribute more to the work force?
Try themed work days to raise money for charity, my company holds them monthly. It is a great morale booster, improves team relationships and raises money for local charities. For example for halloween we paid £1 to come to work in fancy dress, people who didn't had to pay £2 ! We had a great laugh !
Really depends on how you define "lazy". However, making everyone an active part of the decision-making process can show them that they are responsible for the contributions that they make to the organization and remind them of repercussions they face for not being a major contributor to the success of the organization. As social creatures, humans need the sense of belonging to a group and steer clear of actions that could possibly cause the group to reject them as part of the group. It is human nature to show ourselves in a positive light to our peers as a result of this fear of rejection.
