I don't think it is so much how many hubs you have, but how your advertising in set up. If you have the correct type of ads on your hubs, then you makemore money.

How many Hubs it takes to earn whatever amount of money varies from author to author.  Topics vary in popularity, people have different levels of skill as writers, do web promotion differently, and so on.  It's more to do with the quality of writing than the quantity.

Some people can earn $100/month with just a few dozen Hubs and for others it will take hundreds of Hubs to earn the same rate.

It is really not about how many hubs.. I know of people who have nearly 300 hubs but make just $50 each month, it is about how you do your keywords research, cater to your web surfing audience and how much work you are willing to put into back linking etc.. that decides how much you would earn.
Writing hubs is just the tip of the iceberg called earning... there is much learning to do..maybe a visit to the learning center by clicking on Help at the top right of your page would help!
Welcome to HP and have fun!
