What are some good weekend jobs for someone with a Science/Computers background?
In a few years, after I complete my PhD in Biology, I think I'd like to work at a weekend job for about 10 hours per week in addition to (hopefully) full-time work in my field in order to pay down college debts and build my savings.
Does anyone have any ideas for jobs I might look at? (I like to be prepared.) Other than my science background, I've tutored, worked in food service, and have some computer repair/programming experience. I was thinking that maybe I could pick up some sort of certification such as phlebotomy or medical coding, or go back to pizza delivery.
Most computer big boxes have their own "geek squads". You might be able to get the flexible hours you want with them.
Go to guru.com, odesk.com and other project based sites. Do some of these short tasks for pay, on your schedule.
