    What's the best way to attract media attention for a cause?

    In addition to being a long-time member of HubPages, I also run my own blog, MoneyNomad.com. I've just launched an advertising campaign to raise money for Haiti hurricane victims and promote a hashtag #AdForAid.

    I'm currently seeking advice on the best way to get attention for this movement and help draw in additional advertisers (100% of what I earn is going to help in Haiti). What are the best ways to reach out to potential news outlets and get them to pick up my story and or share a tweet?

    Contact reporters to cover fundraisers, marathons, events you are holding.
    Ask companies to donate to you and say they can have cause based marketing (invite reporters to cover the donation for good press of the company) in return.
    Tell donors you'd happily share links to any press releases they do about their donations so they get more press for the donations and good backlinks.
