But the best part is if you learn some of its skills then you can start your career even from home. There are many topics in digital marketing. So, you need to decide which topic you want to learn and master. So, let me share the blueprint as to how you can start learning digital marketing from home.

What Is Digital Marketing?

In simple words, digital marketing is an online marketing strategy where we promote goods, services, ideas on the internet to achieve digital marketing goals.

In digital marketing, you can learn the following concepts.
Content Writing, Blogging, Website Designing, SEO (Search Engine Optimization), ORM (Online Reputation Management), AdSense, Affiliate Marketing, Email Marketing, E-Course Creation, Google Analytics, Micro Video Mastery, Podcast, Online Influence Marketing, Ecommerce, SMM (Social Media Marketing), Facebook Advertising, Instagram Marketing, Google Adwords, YouTube Marketing, Linkedin Marketing)

Few of them will take time to learn and some are easy to implement. It all depends upon your area of interest and how much hard work you are willing to put. Normally, it takes two to three months to learn most of the concepts and another two months if you will start implementing them. Now, let’s see how we can start learning about digital marketing from home.

Subscribe To YouTube Channels And Blogs

Just like you want to read some newspaper or like to watch some news channels, the same way you have to subscribe to a few YouTube channels and some blogs. This is the first honest way to start learning about digital marketing.

After you subscribe to them, every day spend one hour and watch a few random videos and read some of their blogs. Normally, when you subscribe to any blog they start sending articles on a regular basis. But, I have observed now-a-days many digital marketers are more active in making videos.

When you use this method to learn you will have to understand that you will be getting some random knowledge and it might look confusing in the beginning. But if you keep doing this task slowly you will start understanding some concepts.

Before you start to implement them it’s important to have some theoretical knowledge. Remember both YouTube and blogs are the best ways to start learning without spending any money. So, I have told you about so many topics. Now just type the topic, search some videos and watch them.

Start Your Own Blog

When we say digital marketing, the first thing which comes to our mind is a website. A blog/website is an integral part of digital marketing. In fact, every digital marketer always tries to learn how to design a blog/website.

When we think of a website/blog we think it’s very complicated and cannot be learned. When I started my career I used to think the same way. But over time I learned that with the advancement in digital technology, designing a blog/website is not that complicated. Only you need a few days of dedication and you can certainly learn how to design a blog/website.

So, here I am sharing the name of two web designing experts. Watch either Ferdy Korpershoek or Nayyar Shaikh YouTube channel and learn the complete web designing course absolutely free.

Also, note that there are free and paid platforms. If you are serious go for the paid platform. It has its own benefits. During your job interview, you can show your blog. This will be an added advantage. And another advantage of starting your own blog is you will also learn and improve your content writing skills.

Learn SEO And Email Marketing

Now, you have started your own blog. So, the obvious next step is to learn about SEO. SEO is a digital marketing technique with the help of these we can bring organic traffic to our articles/website.

SEO is one of the most important techniques of digital marketing. There are many gurus online whose blog or videos are full of SEO related content. So, read or watch those channels. Before we move to the next topic note that SEO is divided into four main parts i.e On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO (link building), Technical SEO and Local SEO. And within these four categories, there are many sub-points.

And along with SEO try to learn email marketing. Many people will say - email marketing is dead but this is not true. Email marketing in itself is a big industry. Under this topic, we have to understand that the use of Gmail is not the professional way of doing email marketing.

There are many online email marketing tools available. You can try some of them. But most of them have monthly billing options. So, in this case, you can try the Mailchimp email marketing software. This is not the best email marketing software but still, you will understand the nitty-gritty.

Search for Naturalvita Tutorials on YouTube and learn how to use Mailchimp for free.

Take Online Course

If you have started practising whatever techniques I have shared till now then you have learned three topics i.e blog designing, SEO and email marketing. Now, if you want to move further, then take some online course and learn how to do online advertising. Two big platforms are Facebook/ Instagram Advertising, Google Adwords/YouTube Advertising (part of Google Adwords).

My advice will be to go ahead and learn about only one platform. But to practice in the real sense, you have to spend some money and dedicate time. Once you practice them in real-world, see what kind of results you are getting.

Apply For Jobs

Since you have learned a lot till here. Now you can go ahead and apply for jobs in digital marketing. And just like any industry, in the beginning, don’t expect too much salary, unless you are too good.

My best advice will be instead of searching for a job, start your digital marketing career from home. For this I have five best options for you to start with:
a) You can start blogging, take some in-depth course and make a career
b) Start your own YouTube channel and become a full-time YouTuber, as videos are the future
c) Start your own writing career from home, write for Hubpages or Medium
d) State your own eCommerce website and sale from home
e) Give services related to Facebook/Instagram Advertising and bonus
f) Start your journey as a Social Media Influencer (click to read more about this topic)

Conclusion

I have shared the blueprint as to how you can start learning digital marketing from home. Just remember don’t get overwhelmed by seeing so many topics. Just start with one or two and concentrate on only those topics only. Skip the rest of them for now. And remember there are courses available for every topic. So, select your own path.

Before you select any topic to learn just read about them and see whether you are really interested in them. I have seen if you're interested then anyhow you will sure learn. Currently, I am concentrating on blogging (English and Hindi), writing on Hubpages and YouTube channel is my next important target.
