25 Things About Me: Stephanie
A Little Bit About Me!
For those of you who are curious, would actually like to know or just swimming around Squidoo, here are 25 things about me- Stephanie Manning. Ok...so maybe there is a little more than 25 but hey...who's counting?
9-1-1: My Career, My Passion
How it all got started.... I started dating a guy in my senior year. He worked with me and was also a volunteer firefighter. I personally, was already amused with emergency services but never thought that ..." I " could be a firefighter. Needless to say, he quickly got me turned on to firefighting and I was a volunteer for 2 years. During that time I learned alot about the county emergency services and applied for a 9-1-1 dispatcher position after my other friend, and female firefighter, Becca, told me about it. Ever since then, the passion has grown. I am now 23 and have been dispatching for 7 years for multiple agencies including, EMS, Fire, Police and was liaison over an AeroMedical service known as AirHeart !
Through my 7 years I have seen alot of tragedy, grief, horror and even a few funny things. My worst experience was working the night that AirHeart 1 crashed. We lost 3 flight members in the crash that could never be replaced.
Just when I think that I have heard it all, something even more crazy, more horrid or even funnier things happen. From folks sleeping with goats, to people calling 9-1-1 over silly things....it never ends!
I also created a lense on Funny 9-1-1 Calls
My Hobbies
My Hobbies.... oh....do I have to choose? Well ok...I will list some of my favorite things to do.
I love gardening! I mean love it. My favorite is my rose garden. Currently I have 24 roses in my rose garden and I just started in 2008. I like Coleus, Tulips, ornamental trees and crotons as well. But, nothing compares to my Roses!
In addition to gardening, I love writing! :) Articles, poetry, lenses, short stories and just about anything else that involves pen, paper, and words!
I also enjoy crocheting! Pretty much anything, blankets, baby blankets, and the other small stuff. Haven't mastered the baby doll gowns or any type of clothes...I think I will just stick with my blankets for now.
eBaying. Ok, so this is an addiction that I just recenlty picked up!
My Not So Girly Hobbies...Hunting and Fishing!
Yes Hunting...not sure whats up with that but I have grown up with my entire family being avid hunters and my daddy who could kill a buck from 10 miles a way. Well I haven't been hunting since I was about 12 years old. Well all the sudden on the last weekend of January 2009, I went hunting with my Daddy and my husband. I sat in the stand with my husband and ended up shooting what I thought was a doe (don't worry it would have been legal....we get plenty of doe tags). Well 3 hours later and 2 hours after dark my daddy finally found my 'big doe'.....it ended up being a little button buck that only weighed about 60 lbs that barely had nubs.... I felt so bad, not only had I shot Bambi but my dad was freezing, wet and cut up. He spent 3 hours going through the swamp practically on his hands and knees in the dark through the bushes and briars tracking this deer by his self. I kept calling him telling him to come back but he said "Honey It's your first deer I have to get it". Keep in mind, that was so sweet, but he was cut up from the briars, soaking wet and walked about 4 miles total in the freezing cold and walked back up a creek to get it to the wood line.
I redeemed my self though... the very next weekend I went hunting, well that Friday too (luckly I told my Supervisor I wanted it to go hunting), I ended up getting in my stand at 6:00 am on February 6th, 2009....at 7:30 I got the chance to redeem myself from my little button-buck and make my daddy proud and hubby too! I shot an 8-point that had a 16 3/4 inch spread. For most places thats not big, but for a Florida White Tail....thats darn good!
My Daddy and my Hubby was so proud! Daddy took him to get mounted for me and when he's done, Daddy and I are gonna take him to get scored!!!
I also enjoy fishing! Saltwater or freshwater! My favorite is Bass fishing. I have only been a few times! My daddy bought me a pink Pflueger and took me bass fishing the first time last year. I loved it!
Daddy & Me with My Deer
I'm a Daddy's Girl!
Yes, I'm a Daddy's Girl what can I say? I love my Daddy like crazy! Of coarse I love my whole family and my mother and everyone else....but me and my Daddy are like to Pea's in a Pod!
My Favorite Books
I'm not much of a book reader for the most part but I do enjoy reading educational books on gardening, roses, landscapes and all things horticulture. I loved reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" in highschool. However, it took me 3 tries to finally get the book read because I would end up putting it down and never getting back to it. Once I read it and got into it, I really enjoyed it!
I also love The Honeysuckle Chronicles by W. Charlene Ammons... The Plan and The Lesson were GREAT! Can not wait for the third book to come out. I know her personally and she is a great person and wonderful author. Now...patiently waiting for the 3rd book!
The only other series I have ever cared for wasThe Left Behind Series. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! I would recommend them to anyone! I made it to the 4th book but being a new mom, work and everything else that goes on I don't have a lot of time to devote to reading and slowly slipped away. Hmmm, maybe I need to dust off the old books and start reading them again!

Children? One Beautiful Daughter named Katelynn!
Katelynn was born in the summer of 2010. I can honestly say that being a mother is the most amazing feeling. Little Miss Katelynn Faye is my whole world.
She was named Katelynn by her Daddy and Faye after my grandmother. I remember being like 5 years old and promising her I would name my first girl Faye...and regardless of the sex, the 4th child's middle name would be Nomoe... No Moe. Granny always said when then child asked why his/her name was Nomoe I was suppose to say cause Granny said after 4 kids I didn't need Nomoe!
Sadly, 13 days after Katelynn was born my Granny Faye passed away. She never got the chance to meet Katelynn since she lived in another state and Katelynn was only 2 weeks old, I know she see's her though and she watches over her every day!

My Writing Sites
As stated earlier, I love writing. I have found it to be quite profitable online. My main 3 online writing sites are:
Squidoo
and Helium
However, Associated Content and Squidoo have been the most profitable for me! Very profitable actually. Click on the site names about to learn more about how each one works! (Not a Blatant referral link I promise!)
My Favorite Color
Yikes! Do I have to chose again. My Favorite Color is a rich forest green and also Claret which is an appleish-burgundy red!
I love the green color in general but I love using Claret for decorating. In fact my wedding was done in Claret, White and Silver! It was so pretty!
My Favorite Personal Lenses
Out of the lenses that I have written I have narrowed it down to my two favorite!
My favorite fun lens is Funny 9-1-1 Calls. It consists of some of the funniest 9-1-1 calls I have ever heard on the internet. They are all posted videos for you to watch. You have to listen to "The Deer, the Dog and the Bambulance!"
My favorite knowledgeable lens is How to Grow Beautiful Roses!
Since creating this lens I have sold both of those... But they are STILL my favorite!
My Worst Fault....
Ha! Ask anyone and they will tell you my worst fault is my mouth! I talk alot! I love talking! Talking is great! However, I sometimes talk myself right into trouble. I've never been one who could just sit there all day and be quite! ...that and I'm loud! oops!
Things That Scare Me
I'm a tough girl for the most part but there are a few things that scare me!
The DARK but only if I'm in a strange place, in the woods or in the water! My husband finds it hilarious to turn the lights off while I'm in the shower! Sorry, can't have that! I can't take it. I must see!
Spiders, lizards, spiders, snakes and anything else that is creep crawly!!!
Heights! Yes, I'm scared of heights! But I love riding the helicopter!
Horror Movies!
The 'unknown'.
My Favorite T.V. Shows
My Favorite T.V. shows are going to sound quite odd for a 23 year old girl! Mostly because some of them are over 23 years old! My favorites are Golden Girls, Momma's Family, Family Guy, Full House and Designing Women!
Angel Face Rose...One of my very own!

My Doggies
I have always been scared to death of Pit Bulls. Unfortunately that's because I too, didn't know much about the breed, and always heard how bad they were. My husband and talked about getting one when we first got together and I was like "Ohhh No You Don't" I had always loved the way a healthy, Pit Bull looked but still, was too scared to get one. About a year after we married, one of our friends has a sister who was selling American Pit Bull Terriers. My husband wanted one and I wanted a dog so I did my research and found out that American Pit Bull Terriers along with most bull dogs are actually great dogs if treated well. They have some of the best temperments and can be the most loyal. That is, if you have a dog that has been taken care of, that has a great blood line, and that has never been fault or abused. Don't get me wrong Pits can be very dangerous when they have been abused or fought. But who wouldn't be. Even a little Jack Russle will react violently after being mistreated, they just aren't as strong as Pits and therefor can't do as much damage.
Anyways, back to my doggies, (sorry, I am such a Pit Bull Advocate now). I ended up buying one of the fawn female puppies and named her Cheyanne. After being with her for a few months I was so in love with her that I wanted another one. I went back and bought her mom, Sheba. Oh my goodness, those two are the most spoiled rotten dogs I have ever seen. But I must say, they are also some the most well-mannered dogs I have ever seen. My Cheyenne is now 1, going on 2 and Sheba, 3 going on 4. I love my doggies like they were my kids!
Things I Can NOT Stand!!!!
I get annoyed easily but who doesn't have their days right? Ok. However, there are somethings that will drive me nuts no matter what! Things that just make you want to reach out and smack someone...those things are
People eating with their mouth open!
People who 'smack' while they!
People who pick their nose! Yuck!!!
People who Lie.... I can't stand a pathilogical liar! My step-mom has always told me " If a person lies, they will steal and if they will steal they will lie!"
My Favorite Saying....
Life's a Garden~ Dig It! - Joe Dirt
My Greatest Accomplishments
Graduating High School
My Dispatch Career
Getting Married....lol...that was a big one for me!
And now..... Being a Mommy!!!!!
My Rent-a-Kids
Rent-a-kids. Thats what I call the kids in my family that I love. Rent-a-kids are the greatest cause you can get them when you want them, have fun with them, play with them, fill them full of sugar and caffiene and send home to their parents! hahaha!
My little sister Andrea, and my two nieces, Breeanna and Haley are my pride and joys! My husband runs around acting like one of the kids when they are around!
In addition to my sister and my nieces, I also have my Hunter, Fisher and Maddie! Those are Jeremys cousins (Kacey and Chase) kids. Hunter...aka Hunter Bob is just hilarious! He's 5 and comes up with the funniest things.
Things I Find Funny
Good Jokes....
Ron White....ok and Larry the Cable Guy
