  • Overview of HubPages

Flexibility one of Hubpages lasting positives

Updated on January 21, 2015

I decided on this Hub after reading one of the comments on my guide to getting started on Hub Pages. Please do not get me wrong though. I still have lot to learn and a long way to go. However, in the months that I have been writing for Hub Pages, I think I have learned quite a lot.

I have also realised that there are quite a few reasons why I love Hub Pages and one of them is flexibility.

In this Hub I will try to explain what I mean by flexibility and why I find this trait so attractive in an online writing website.

Well what about you?

What do you love about Hub Pages?

See results

If you write online you may have already tried many websites. You will no doubt have discovered that some of them are quite restrictive. You may however have also found that there is the chance to, potentially, earn more money on these websites. This can be attractive but it is not always easy and the site may be anything but flexible.

Hub Pages allows you one of the best levels of flexibility, amongst the online writing community. Don't believe me? Well just consider these points:-

  1. You do not have to submit a title and then wait for it to be approved. Many other sites will have some title or other available but you will not be able to just write on any subject as your mood and mind takes you. Some, such as the now defunct Helium, reuired you to submit a title which may be accepted or rejected. In the meantime you must wait and bide your time. Others, such as Info Barrel, need you to become a pre approved writer before you can write at will. Hub Pages allows you to submit almost any title from day one. Obviously there are rules and the Hub title and content should never, for example, be offensive, racist or adult. However as long as your new Hub fits the very loose criteria you can publish immediately.

  2. Sometimes you create a Hub and you know that it is not quite right. Perhaps the Hub is not making any money or maybe it just needs updating in time. No problem on Hubpages where you can edit your Hub whenever you want or need to. This is great and offers a distinct advantage over some other websites.

  3. This editing also enables you to add and remove capsules such as YouTube videos, Images, broken links and more. If you are not happy with your Hub's keywords add, remove or change them. In fact you can tweak away till your heart's content and you are happy with your Hub.

  4. OK, so you have decided that your new Hub was a mistake and you wish you had never published it in the first place. Unfortunately many other websites will not let you easily delete your work. You may have to contact the admin team. Of course they may delete your work for you for any number of reasons whether you want them to or not! Well firstly let me say that, as far as I am aware, Hub Pages do not have random deletes of Hubbers' work. If you need to delete one of your Hubs it is easy on Hub Pages. Simply select your Hub. Above the Hub's title, at the top of the Hub, you will see the option to Edit, Look at the Stats, Delete or start a new Hub. Simply select delete and the Hub is gone. Do remember to copy, paste and save though, any of the Hubs information that you may need, in something such as Word, before hitting the delete tab.

  5. Now that has led me to checking the statistics of Hubs. This is possible via your accounts. However, it is also possible to check each hub's stats by selecting the Stats button mentioned above.

Have I convinced you about Hub Pages flexibility yet? I do hope so

Hub Pages offers a forum and great admin team who can offer help when needed. However, there is no pressure to join in. We all tend to join websites such as Hub Pages for personal reasons. Some members simply want to earn some money while others want to improve their writing and Internet skills. Then there are those that love the forums and virtual socialising.

Hub Pages offers the perfect platform for all of these types of members. Now if that is not flexibility I don't know what is.

I can relate to what you said here. I've seen other sites and so far, the one that catches my attention has always been Hubpages. Will continue to keep on adding hubs, and checking out others hubs as well. Great writing, hub up.

Oh definitely and I have found HP to be the most user friendly site I have used so far :-)

Yes I agree about the money but it helps if the site where you are writing is user friendly I think.

G'day ethel, I like just about everything about Hubpages although I do tend to steer clear of the Forums, especially the religious forum. Is anyone gonna change their mind? I think not LOL I'm too naïve to think they are doing it for the exposure. hmmm

I think if I'm to be honest I would say that if there was not a chance to make some money I would not be on HP.

      Great Hub . thumbs up ! :-)

Hubpages is very flexible. The only thing I DON'T like is rearranging the capsules so they look nice - to me, that's challenging (and maybe one of the few things I wish Hubpages would work on a little bit). Hubpages is perfect for mostly text hubs, but I tend to work with a lot of photos. With work though, it can look great.

I agree though, it's much better than most of the other online writing sites.

Great Hub! I too love Hub Pages and continue to learn. You shared some great details - didn't know the Helium rules.

You left out one of my favorites - I love the categories and having everything basically in one place. Having the flexibility of changing topics dramatically is fun!

And like Jen's Solitude - I picked everything!

Hi ethel, great hub explaining how flexible HP is! Of course when I took the poll I picked the I Love Everything answer. :-)

Hello, ethel, and I am convinced that it is so easy to write on hub. You mentioned Helium. Did you write on it? Are you still writing on it? I would interested in what you thought of it. Hope you don't mind. Thank you.

I love the flexibility here too, ethel. This is the only website I've ever written on so I never realized that others were so restrictive. But I love that I can always go back and change things easily, I think that's one of my favorite things here.
