How To Drive traffic to blog or hub

Updated on October 4, 2011

In Response to the Question How do you drive or gain traffic to your hub?

A fellow hubber asked the question? How do you drive or gain traffic to your Hubs? This is a question that almost every blogger or hubber has asked themselves at some point throughout their blogging career; or for some of us, our blogging attempts. I make that statement boldly because, before the introduction of hubpages, I was totally lost and had made several attempts to gain webtraffic on We'll my attempts weren't in vain as I stumbled upon various writing sites and quickly found informative info about blog writing on a network  with the web address I have been a member on hubpages for about 12months now; For some reason i didn't attempt to write an article until about two months ago. I guess, I was somewhat hesitant about the idea subconsciously due to the outcome of my previous attempts of writing with blogspot. What a surprise I got when I finally created my first hub. It was entitled", How To Get A Kim Kardashian Booty". To my surprise, this hub got traffic and I slowly started to gain followers. It wasn't long before I created a second hub and entitled it ,"How to Write a Blog." As a result, I gained more followers, this time hubbers left comments and tips. Some of the tips left to me I intend on passing on to you.  I intend on helping you accomplish two very important things by creating this hub;that is to increase your google adsense revenue for a payout, and to gain an audience not just on hubpages but from various search engines.

Step One: Use Your Google Keywords Adwords Tools

When creating a hub, the first thing you should do is choose a topic or a catchy title. For example during the Tiger Woods scandal, I created a blog and being my usual comical self, give credit or pick fun with the frosted flakes theme song as well as with Tiger Woods, I entitled the blog, "Show'em Your Tiger". This blog was generated into the traffic quite quickly; however it was created with blogspot, and I did nothing to help it gain rank; at the time of the blog's creation I was new to the blogging scene an not yet familiar with the way the search engine optimization works. You should open a new tab as soon as you start to create a hub where in you access the google adwords:keywords tool. The website's address, is You can use the google adwords keywords tool to help you determine the title of your articles, by listing all the keywords that apply or at least those with the most searches. U should also include the keywords in your tags, as well as including the keywords within your article. Be careful not to list too many throughout the duration of the article because, if too many are counted by google, the system will read the article as spam. To stay safe with this only include those keywords that you are going to specifically give reference to. If u noticed when i entitled my article some of my words were lower case while other's were capitalized. Reason being, there are numerous searches for specific info, in order to properly tag the info being searched you must spell it the and phrase it the exact way it was input into the search engine, in order for your hub to be crawled into the specific search. The more you hub the more sense it will begin to make to you.

Step Two

Make sure you create good quality hubs, with lots of good content. If you need ideas on hubs to create, check out some of the forums. There are great writers in all of the forums, you can get great ideas from questions and comments made in forums. You can participate in challenges such as the hubpages challenge. This is where the hubpages community challenges you to write 30 hubs in 30 days.  This is a great motivator for the hubwriting community. This will also increase your web traffic because, hubpages holds a great rank with google already, you have already eliminated the most difficult task; which would be getting the search engine to optimize your article. Your job here is to get great followers so that your hub will be accessed more. The more your hub is accessed the more your hub gains rank because the search engine has become familiar with your hubs title.

Step Three: Backlinking

Next you should, backlink. Backlink your articles, backlink the articles of some well followed hubbers. For interesting tips on backlinking you should refer to my article on backlinking; it is entitled,"Backlinking-One-the-Most-Important-Techniques-of-the-SEO-Equation". This will help you to better understand the process of backlinking, and all of it's odd's and ends. There is also software that u can invest in that can help to provide you with instant backlinks.

Step 4: A Backlinking Trick that Actually works

Ok here's where the follower's gain importance. You can choose to follow as many hubber's as you please. I have managed to run across some magnificient hubbers with great tips and some with trips. For example Terry G1 in his hub thats entitled " Get 13 Instant Backlinks To Your Hubpages", he revealed a secret on how you register to one website and end up being automatically linked to 12 other websites. In this hub he gives specific instructions on how you can get a higher page rank from 9 to 4 within the googles ranking system. This actually works, he is a great hubber to follower as well. Backlinking could also be beneficial to your adsense account because you get a percentage of the money generated if your linked to a hub that is generating web traffic and clicks. It is easy to backlink other hubs through the automatic suggest links feature or add them through the link capsule.

Step Five: Utilize Your Capsules

You should utilize your capsules to help you gain revenue. You can register on, and, and become an affiliate. Both of these are affiliates that are included in your capsules. You can create hubs that promote specific products . This is beneficial to you as a hubber because it can help you gain followers, as well as gain revenue from amazon, and ebay. You can create or use video that are related to your hubs from  the video capsule. Youtube is great for listing video's with relative topics. You can also create or use a rss feed for related content so that it automatically feeds onto your hubs.

Step Six: Join other Writing Affiliate Programs

Here is a another very good, way to earn revenue and traffic. This is by signing up and joining other writing communities. Many of these writing communities have good pr rank, and offer 100 percent payouts for google adsense, and offer other affiliate programs as well. You should subscribe to these sites and submit your hubs asap, to gain high pr rank. Some of these sites include,,, I have link three of them below. I only linked three of them because I don't want to be overpromotional as it is a rule of hubpages not to be. After you subscribe to these sites you should see a significant change in your accounts stats overall, and in your googe adsense revenue. You should definitely utilize those social sites such as,,, etc. For more info on how to make those social websites more useful you should read fellow hubber Misha's article that is entitled, "You got those Facebook and Twitter accounts Now what". You should also read my article an learn what hubbers to follow to help you increase your adsense revenue.

Step 7: Link Some RSS Feeds

You should link some rss feeds with good content from your hubs as well as other hubber's hubs. This way you will not have to update your hub as frequently as others. For a better understanding of rss feeds you should refer to my hub entitled,"What Is a RSS Feed".

Great hub, and thanks so much for sharing. It sure looks like it takes a lot of hard work, and that merely writing a good hub or blog post is only half the story. How Back links work is still not very clear to me, and neither is the importance of RSS Feeds, so I'll click on your links to learn more. BTW you seem to have one broken link: "Get 13 instant back links to your Hub Pages" leads to: "Sorry, that page does not exist." I'm very sorry to be the one to point it out to you. This is a hub I'll definitely read again as I'm new at this and have a lot to learn. Thank you again for some great advice. Voted up and useful.

These are indeed good information, shaekelly, I'll definitely read the couple of hubs you suggested. Only one thing, as a friendly reminder, the "All I ask in return is that your bookmark my hub and follow me." may not be a wise thing to put here. First, number of followers alone will not do a thing to your author score (believe me), you've gained steadily more scores recently, not because you had more followers, it is absolutely because you did other right things. If you write good and useful stuff, people will naturally follow you without you asking for it; otherwise even they follow, the follow will be meaningless. Trust me, more followers Do Not up your scores! If they blindly follow, they won't read your hubs; if they don't read your hubs, what would you get? A Good follow might influence your score a little, like if you helped a particular hubber, that person then followed you. And putting a line like this here actually will create negative feelings for some (at least). Hope you won't take my words the wrong way. Best wishes and happy holiday!
