Hubpages Earnings 2011

Last year I published a hub titled How I tripled my hubpage earnings in 2010. This year I am going to write a report on my 2011 earnings. We already know that all our earnings were severely cut back earlier in the year due to the Google Algorithm change(Panda). This adversely affected Hub-page earnings for all hub page writers which caused a few defections from Hub pages. Of course here in Queensland Australia there were far more life threatening events such as the Queensland January Floods and Tropical Cyclone Yasi which has a severe effect on the whole State. As we reach into the last month of the year it is interesting to reflect on how my hub pages earnings fared. How much work I put in creating new hubs and well as maintaining existing hubs. Which comes to that evergreen question what to do to make money: More money.

Up until this hub I have published thirty new hubs in 2011. My best hub for 2011 with a current score of 84 is Opening Lines to the esteemed Judges of the Writing Competition.

This is quite a drop in producing hubs than in previous years. Given I have published over 300 in four years. Quite a bit or time was spent changing or altering existing hubs to fit the new rules and requirement requested of the advertisers by hub pages. This was time consuming process going over old hubs deleting capsules counting words etc. So that no more than one advertising capsule appeared every fifty words. Fortunately my evergreen hubs continue to attract traffic and provide me with residual income.

One of the demotivating factors was of course the Panda Algorithm change by Google. This made me for one hesitant to publish new hubs and ponder the future of hub pages. Fortunately action by Hub pages staff with the introduction of new advertising has restored the earning back to pre-panda days. Signs are this will continue to improve and i think we can all look forward to better days earning wise in 2012. I had a spell of about three months where I did not publish any new hubs in 2011. July, August and Sept it was good to see my evergreen hubs keep ticking over with traffic during this period.

Although substantially down during that period overall. Those hubs are now back on track and the numbers back up to the peak of their best prior to Panda. given that I only produced 30 hubs in 2012 I am quite happy with the result all is well that ends well. Looks like as I just said 2012 should be a good year to produce good hubs and make money.

Tips

Just one tip which has been mentioned by other successful hubber's before. With my evergreen hubs which continue to get most traffic. For which I have written several hubs. Such as the Death Penalty or the Cost of Gun Deaths in America I link each of the hubs with a link. This allow readers to read my other hubs should they choose. As such more time is spent on these hubs and I assume Google ranks them high. My hub 'Reasons the Death Penalty should be abolished' was when I last looked the highest ranking article on that topic on Google.

In the last few days I have joined Empire Avenue which is another way of getting a whole new audience outside of Hubpages to read and participate in your social network extend your reach and optomise your earnings. Let me know if you want to join. Just in a few days I have added a few new followers on all of my sites including Twitter, Facebook,Blogger,Flickr, etc. It is a bit like a simulated stock market game where increase in web activity and your audience participation increases your share price. At the same time you in reality get more exposure and visits to your sites.

How do you feel overall with your hubpage earnings towards the end of 2011
