How to be Active on HubPages to Earn More Money on HubPages

Updated on April 24, 2013

Becoming more active on HubPages helps your earnings increase

For those hubbers who are trying to increase their earnings on HubPages, they may very well be able to earn more by being more active on HubPages. Being more active on HubPages helps your profile and hubs get more traffic. Increasing traffic to your HubPages profile and hubs helps you earn more money on HubPages.

There are a number of ways that you could use to increase traffic to your hubs, like paying a little attention to Search Engine Optimization of your hubs, and with keyword and keyphrase use in your hubs, as well as linking to your hubs from other sites, but one of the easiest ways to increase traffic to your hubs is to be more active on HubPages. It may still take some time, but because it's quite fun, being more active on HubPages doesn't really seem like work (like paying attention to Search Engine Optimization and getting lots of links from other sites seems like work.)

I would suggest that in addition to being more active on HubPages that you still work on fairly often writing and adding new hubs, a little bit of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and linking to your hubs from other sites, but you may quite likely find that you can do less of this when you become more active on HubPages.

As long as I have done a little SEO and linking from other sites, and do write and add new hubs from time to time, if I can increase traffic to my hubs in a way that seems more fun to do than doing SEO or linking from other sites, I'd spend more time doing that instead, wouldn't you?

Different ways to be more active on HubPages

Exploring is fun. When trying to earn more money on HubPages by being more active, exploring can also be very important. It's easy to explore HubPages by using the "explore" tab at the top of the page.

Increase your activity on HubPages by:

commenting on other hubs;

asking and answering questions;

starting or adding to discussions in the HubPages forums

Being more active on HubPages by commenting on other hubs

Commenting on other hubs is one of the easiest ways in which to get yourself noticed (and if you are noticed more, you may have more people visiting your HubPages profile and hubs - not just other hubbers, but anybody visiting HubPages, reading that hub and its comments, and seeing your comment, which has a link to your profile in your username.)

Tips to increase your exposure when commenting on other hubs:

If you really want to stand a better chance of the author of the hub, other hubbers and any visitor to HubPages visiting your profile (and your hubs) then leave good comments on other hubs. Take time to read the entire hub, and leave a good, honest comment.

To avoid struggling to leave a good, honest comment, find hubs to read that really interest you. To find hubs that really interest you, use the "explore" tab in the navigation at the top of HubPages, and then after clicking either the "topics" or the "hubs" link, "explore" some more. On either of those pages use the "hot," "best" and "latest" tabs to find titles of hubs that interest you.

If a hubber writes many hubs on a topic or two that interests you, follow them so that you can be alerted when they add new hubs.

Visit the profiles of hubbers who leave comments on your own hubs, and on their profile find the title of a hub they've written that interests you, and go read it and comment on it. This may entice them to come and read more of your own hubs, and comment on more of your own hubs.

Do for others what you'd like done for you.

You can also increase your chance of having your comment noticed by sharing that hub to your followers. Do this by finding the "f-share" button beneath their hub - this is not just for sharing to Facebook - after you have clicked the "f-share" button you will see that there are some options for you to share the hub to different places, one of those options being to simply share the hub to your followers on HubPages.

If you're the first person to leave a comment on another hub, remember to also vote it up and indicate if you found it useful, funny, awesome, beautiful or interesting. Imagine the author of the hub sees your genuinely good and honest comment but notices that he or she doesn't yet have any numbers next to the useful, funny, awesome, beautiful or interesting options. What if that author thinks "Well, this person left a nice comment which seemed so genuine, but why didn't they also say that they found my hub interesting or useful? I wonder if it was such a genuine and honest comment afterall?"

From time to time go back to hubs that you have already commented on. The hub author may have left a comment asking you a question, and what will people think if you don't answer it? Answering the question shows that you have come back to the hub and that you are an active person on HubPages - perhaps gaining you a few more followers and a few more visits to your own hubs. When going back to hubs from time to time, you may also notice an interesting comment of another hubber. If their comment interests you, go and visit their profile to see if they have hubs that interest you. You may also want to follow them, and leave a nice fan mail comment.

Being more active on HubPages by asking and answering questions

Increase your exposure by giving the link to your HubPages profile more exposure. Increase exposure of your HubPages profile link by asking and answering questions.

Increase your chances of more people being eager to answer your questions by going back to those questions and voting up the answers you like. People enjoy their good answers getting voted up, so they may want to answer all your questions if you bother to vote up the good answers your questions get.

Leaving good answers to questions other hubbers ask intrigues other hubbers visiting that same question, and they may visit your profile to find out more about you, and to read your hubs.

Again, use the "explore" tab at the top of the page, but this time to find the link to "answers." After clicking it, choose to answer hot, latest, best or unanswered questions. You could also use the "Question Topics" section on the right hand side of the page to choose to read and answer only questions in a topic category that you enjoy, or that you know a lot about.

Above the "Question Topics" section find the place you can use to ask your own questions.

Read, participate in the discussions of, and use the HubPages forums

Again, use the "explore" tab at the top of the page, but this time to find the "forums" section of HubPages.

Give your HubPages profile link more exposure by starting a discussion in a forum category, by leaving your comment on a discussion that somebody else started, and by replying to individual replies to that discussion.

Regularly re-visit those forum discussions you've taken part in, to see if there are any new comments that you could leave a genuine and honest reply to.

Improve your HubPages profile

The methods described to increase your exposure means that it is likely your Hubpages profile will be visited more. So when hubbers (or anybody visiting the site) sees your profile, there should be something there that intrigues them about you, and doesn't chase them away.

Work on improving your HubPages profile by looking at what other hubbers say on their own profiles. Never copy the exact wording of another hubber's profile for your own HubPages profile, but get ideas on how you could improve your own profile. Get those ideas especially from the profiles that you really like. If there's anything on another hubber's profile that you don't like, even if it's simple spelling, typing or grammar mistakes, be sure to avoid those same things on your own profile.

Routine helps

It may seem that there is quite a lot to do to be active on HubPages, and perhaps there is (which is a good thing,) but to avoid feeling overwhelmed why not start a routine?

Here is an example of a 10-step routine that may help:

  1. Write and add a new hub (this is the only step in this example of a routine that you should allow yourself to skip from time to time);
  2. Reply to any comments your hubs have gotten since you last logged in;
  3. Go read and comment on the hubs of at least 3 other hubbers, making use of the tips described in "Being more active on HubPages by commenting on other hubs";
  4. Share the hub of at least one other hubber to your followers;
  5. Follow at least one hubber;
  6. Ask at least one question;
  7. Answer at least three questions;
  8. Start a new forum discussion or at least add your comment to at least two forum discussions;
  9. Check back on older activities: see if the hub author of a hub you've commented on has left a comment aimed just at you and has perhaps asked you a question, see if any answers your questions have received need voting up, or leave replies to new comments on forum threads you've participated in;
  10. Repeat.
