Hub Earnings Progress

Updated on September 1, 2012

When I first started writing on HubPages, I did it because I was bored and was looking for something that could fill my time and earn a small side income. I came across a few articles that discussed how much people earned on Hubpages and it was interesting to see the range.

For the experienced internet marketers and writers, they could make up to quite a couple of hundred buckaroos per month from the Ad program, Ebay, Amazon sales. For the not so experienced ones, it was way way less. As this is more of a hobby for me, so any cash is really a bonus to me. After around 6 months in the program, I was pleasantly surprised by how my monthly earnings have been doing as the articles mature.

I'll be sharing with everyone the numbers in this hub just to chart my progress.

Disclaimer: The numbers are really small, but I really do like how it seems to be growing slow and steadily each month.

No. of hubs published

This is the number of hubs published per month till date. (As you can see I was really enthused at the beginning but as my day job picked up, I started to have less time to work on this.)

The interesting thing is that while I stopped vigorously writing for some time, the income was still coming in as seen in the table below.

Income Table from start till now

This is the progress of my hub earnings from start till now. I am only on the Hubpage Ad program. I went for this in the beginning for convenience sake. I do have Amazon and Ebay set up but have made 0 sales on it.

Like I mentioned above, while I stopped writing for some time, the income still streamed in and furthermore seem to have increased each month which really surprised me.

My thoughts

There seems to be an upward trend in terms of earnings per month. I should be able to tell if this trend is persistent after observing for a little bit more time. What I really like is that even though I couldn't put in as much as effort as I did in January, my slow months still brought in income passively. It's a very good feeling!

I've also read somewhere that if I can get to 100 pretty good quality hubs in total, I am looking at US$50 per month in revenue. Sounds pretty nice for a hobby.

Hence, 2 goals that I am going to work towards in the upcoming months:

  1. Achieve 100 hub entries.
  2. Aim to write at least 1 hub a week.

Hope I can achieve these goals and see how this whole thing pans out!

Til my next hub!
