HubPages, Making Money on it and My Personal Tips
Hi everyone! A few days ago I got a new, silver colored medal and that's when I realized that I've been the member of HubPages for one whole year now. To celebrate this anniversary, I thought I'll write a promotion hub of HubPages nowhere else but on HubPages! I think that's a great opportunity to show the ones who haven't heard about the site that how great it is and to help the ones who just got started and want some tips on how to make the most out of their hubs in order to earn money. So let's get started!
What is HubPages?
For the ones who just got there somehow by surfing on the Internet, let me make you clear where your surfboard landed. HubPages is a site where you write articles about anything you love, decorate them with pictures, videos, make them interactive by adding polls to them then sharing your masterpiece with the whole world. After that, your job only job is to sit back and watch the unsuspecting surfers (the ones like you) flowing into your page reading, loving and sharing your Hub. We just call them traffic...and with great traffic comes not only great responsibility but great money as well! Yes, HubPages is a place where you can actually make a nice passive income, but that's not the main purpose here. The most important thing is to have fun Hubbing, the money is just a bonus.
How can you earn money on it?
"How can Hubbing make me money?" you may ask. Well it's really simple. Next to your published Hubs you will see Google advertisements. Those are usually related to your hub so it has a nice chance that people who read your Hub will click on them. If this happens, you get money from Google. Well, actually you only get the money in 60% of the time and in the remaining 40% the revenue goes to HubPages. I think that's a fair share as long as HubPages gives as maximum support and a great platform where we can play with our creativity.
For the ones who are in a mood for writing reviews, there's an option to add Amazon and Ebay products to your hubs. If someone buys the product you get a commission from Amazon/Ebay. This is also a great way to maximize your income and to separate big walls of text in order to get a more beautiful hub.
What should you write about?
It's simple: you should write about the things you love. It can be anything as long as it's original. For example, I wrote many articles about endangered animals because I felt like I had to write them. It's true that they don't make me a lot of money because there are a very few people who care about those animals, but I did it because I wanted so. I could say that write about things that make you the most money, but I won't. That's just only my personal advice, but if you would like to go on the "less human more moneymaker" way then you can do that as well.
Length, Decoration and the Paths
About the length of an article, I usually write them between 400 and 1000 words, but that's just a rough approximate of how long they should be. I like to fill them with pictures and polls so it will be less boring to read them (I hope they are not boring, but I'm paranoid so I need those pictures and polls!!). There are five paths you can follow (unless you're super creative and you find your own path). That means your hub will be one of those, probably more of those at once:
- Interesting
- Awesome
- Useful
- Beautiful
- Funny
My Tips On Paths
I usually write my hubs to be interesting, so the ones who read my hub are people who are just bored. It's one of the easiest roads to follow, as there are a lot of interesting things out there to write about. The Interesting path is also a good combo with Amazon books, so they have a great earning potential. Every now and then you will get an idea of an Awesome type of Hub. If this happens, grab the chance and build that Hub up immediately before you forget the idea! Those Awesome type of Hubs are the rare manifestations of the human brain, and they can be a traffic magnet if built well. The 'useful' articles are even better to earn money, they are usually how-to guides, reviews or recipes. The best kind of traffic is the one looking for useful information, they buy everything, they click on every advertisement, it's madness! (Well at least I am like this when i'm surfing for info). The Beautiful is like the woman version of the Awesome Hubs, and I think I don't have to explain the Funny one (or maybe I'm out of ideas). I don't have any suggestions here, pick the one that fits your style than go for it!
Choose your path!

Tips For The Money Makers
If you want to join the site mostly because of it's earning potential then you will have some strict rules to follow in order to achieve your goal. You must understand that you need time and dedication to set up your Hubpire! Here are a few tips to start:
- Write regularly! If you can write three hubs a week then write three hubs, if you can write five then write five, just don't stop!
- Quality before quantity! Don't write hubs just for the sake of writing more hubs! Always write quality articles with original content, and take your time to make them look professional!
- Activate yourself! Be a part of the community, follow others, comment on their hubs and answer their questions, you will not only drive traffic to your profile with this, you will also meet people who can help if you're stuck!
- Be patient! This is not a method were you get rich in just a few days. You must be proud of every cent you make, and work hard to achieve your final goal: to have a stable passive income!
