My 8 Hubpages Resolutions

At long last, I finally reached my 50^th hub. Wanted to have this out by last week but due to one thing or another (long story), took me a while to write this 50^th hub.

So, hmmm, first of all, what to write? I’ve written some “would-be” hubs, discarded them, wrote some more, and still discarded them. I just didn’t know what to write. Okay, I got my 49^th hub out – about accounting scandals. But I still didn’t know what to write for my 50^th hub.

Then it hit me, this is not just my 50^th hub. I’m celebrating a lot of milestones here, too. I got my 200^th fan today. Plus this is my 3^rd month in hubpages. Plus I hit a 100 hubber score this month (a couple of times I’ve been told). Plus I’m hoping to reach $40 in adsense revenues (more than $1 to go) and my 10,000^th page views (less than 1,000 to go I think), all by the end of this month. So yes, I’m celebrating a lot more than just the 50^th hub.

So, in honor of my 50t hub (and all the milestones I mentioned earlier), I would like to put here what I would call my “Hubpages Resolutions”. Kind of like New Year’s resolutions but this one will be more for Hubpages and my online writing. And the time frame? By the end of 2009 (3 months away but heck, lots of things to do, so little time and all that). And so, here are my Hubpages’ Resolutions:

Publish my 100^th hub. Took me 3 months to write 50 hubs, so I figured it will take me another 3 months to write the next 50. So, I put this resolution first because I feel that this is the easiest for me to fulfill.

Get 10,000 more views. Okay, haven’t really hit my first 10,000^th view (but then again, my stats are frozen so I really don’t know but I seriously doubt it). But with my trend right now and my plan to write 50 hubs, I’m confident this is another resolution I can fulfill by the end of this year. Update: As of Nov. 4, 2009, I already hit 23,000 views, 3,000 more than my targeted 20,000 views for the year! Here's hoping I reach 30,000 to 35,000 views by the end of this year.

Get more and more and more fans. I’m up to my 200+ fans and I really think I can have more. Notice that I did not put in any specific number. That’s because I don’t really want to force anybody to become my fan. I just want to concentrate on writing good hubs that will get hubbers to fan me. But another 200 fans by the end of this year will be kind of nice =).

Publish more hubs for Amazon. So far, I have only a couple of clicks on my Amazon product. But then again, I’m not really hoping for any. For the next 50 hubs, I’m planning to write some hubs geared towards getting my first Amazon purchase. Just one by the end of this year (I’m not ambitious) is enough for me.

Increase my Adsense earnings. Wouldn’t it just be a wonderful Christmas if I get my first payout by the end of this year? Not sure though if I’ll get that pay-out but hey, never really thought I’d see any dollars in Adsense and yet I’m seeing a lot of them now. So, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that first pay-out.

Increase my understanding of SEO and backlink and all those stuff. Okay, let’s face it. In terms of SEO, backlinks, etc., I’m walking on a strange land (more like an alien planet) here. I don’t really know much about these things but I’m planning to end that by the last quarter of the year. Already getting started with reading some of the hubs here and some of the blogs of the hubbers here. Hopefully, will get to learn more as the months go by.

Read more hubs. I’m a fan of more than a hundred hubbers yet I get to read only one or two of their hubs a day. So for the next three months, I’m planning to increase this number of hubs to 4 to 5 per day. And leave some comment while I’m at it =).

Lessen my forum trolling / participation. Okay, I’m not a troll but I do love to hang out in the forums and read posts. I don’t participate in those er “controversial” forums but I do read them. Plus I participate in other threads as well. Not that it’s bad but I do think that some time is being taken away from me for writing my hubs. So for the next three months, I promise to lessen my time in the forums and to increase my time writing hubs (crossing my fingers here, LOL).

So, I guess that's it. I know they may sound a lot (or a little, depends on how you look at them), but I think they're manageable. And with three months left, I have just about enough time to achieve a majority of them. So good luck to me and thanks for reading this hub.

Hub Views

It's Sept. 24 here and I already hit the 10,000 views! Whooopppeeee! I took a snapshot for posterity. Now all I need is another 10,000 views =).

Hub Score

Another update. Didn't actually include this in my resolutions because, well, I honestly didn't think I will get it. But I hit a 100 score in one of my hubs! Yyyiiiippeeee! It's about recession here in the Philippines.

Adsense Earnings

Whoooppeeeee! I hit my $100 Adsense earnings last Dec. 10 :). I'm so happy as I didn't actually think I will get it, not until the end of December at least. In any case, I know Google will still subject the same to an audit. I'm hoping to get my actual payout by February 2010. Keeping my fingers crossed that the audit will not affect that.
