The Lollipop Award Goes To......
THE LEGEND CONTINUES
Every once in awhile, a special honor is bestowed upon us, and it is so prestigious, so welcomed, that we just need to share it. For some it might be Mother of the Year; for others, possibly a Hubbie Award or a thank you note from the IRS.
My moment in the sun just happened this week, and I feel compelled to tell you about it and then, as is the nature of the award, to pass it on to another deserving Hubber.
Chris in Hawaii, and Hubber of considerable renown on HubPages, recently gave me the Highly Coveted Lollipop Award. Let me explain!
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, BILLYBUC?
Fair question, but rather than me babble on about this award, I’ll let Chris do the honors, since he is the one who dreamed this baby up.
“The Unofficial HubPages Lollipop Award is a virtual lollipop, but unlike the lollipops you get at the dentist's office (which I'm sure are given out with no ulterior motives involving job security), there isn't a whole bowl filled with these lollipops. No, there is only one single Lollipop Award on the planet, and the only way to receive it is to have it awarded to you by the current Lollipop Award holder.
The award is given to a Hubber who you feel is deserving of some special recognition, someone who embodies all that is great about HubPages...someone who is a giver and not just a taker, if you know what I mean...”
So there you have, in Chris’s own words, what this fantastic award is all about.
I am stunned! I am flabbergasted! I am so excited I’m about to pee my pants, and Bev is standing by with bucket and mop.
After nine months and 285 Hubs, I have finally reached the mountaintop. Cogerson, you can have the Best Hubber Award. All of you who have won the Hub Of The Day Award, you can keep them and good riddance. I have the baby I have wanted all these long months, the crème de la crème, the best of the best, the…..LOLLIPOP AWARD!
Oh, if my dad were only alive now to see this moment. He would be so proud!
At first, I admit, I was a little disappointed that it was just a virtual award. I mean how am I supposed to put this on the fireplace mantel if it’s virtual? Oh, wait, we don’t have a fireplace mantel. No problem; I’ll put the virtual award on the virtual fireplace mantel. Whew, problem solved!
AND NOW I MUST PASS IT ON
Oh, how fleeting is fame! I have had this award for three days and I now have to part with it. Sigh!
However, in the spirit of HubPages, I will do my duty and pass this award on to a deserving subject. Let’s take a look at the criteria as established by Chris. Someone deserving of some special recognition….someone who embodies all that is great about HubPages….someone who is a giver and not just a taker….hmmm! There are so many who meet those requirements. What should I do?
Whenever I face a tough decision such as this one, I always turn to our oldest dog, Jasmine! Jazz is the Queen of the House, the ruler of her domicile, and the animal who I respect the most (except for that habit she has of farting at dinnertime). She has shown great wisdom over the years, and if anyone can make this decision, it is Jazz.
What I’ll do is spread out the names of all of my followers on the floor. I will then ask Jazz to come over and lie down on the names. Whichever name is underneath her left front paw is the winner. That seems just in a Solomon sort of way, don’t you think?
Okay, let me get set up….spreading the names out on the floor….calling Jazz over….and the winner is……
Oops, that’s the problem with having a dog that is paper-trained! I can’t even read the name under that pile of poop! Damn! Do you remember that great line in Jurassic Park…..”that’s one large pile of shi_! That’s what I’m looking at now.
Okay, time to turn to Plan B!

Why Linda? Simply because she is good people, that’s why! Linda has established herself as a solid member of the HubPages community. I really do want to thank Chris for thinking of me, and for the nice things he said. I took a lighthearted approach to this Hub, but I am very grateful to everyone who follows me and shows appreciation for my work. I don’t think it should surprise anyone when I say that I love Hubpages, and Chris’s gesture is just one of many reasons why HubPages is the place for me!
