Spend some actual time on the hub. Write whatever you have a passion about or have lots of knowledge of. Put pictures, multiple text modules, proof read or spell check your hub before you publish it (you can write it in microsoft word or another spell checking program).
Thank you for your advice! I have been working on one for a few days so it should be complete soon. Thanks again!
Write between 750 - 1000 words on a topic you know inside out, have interest in or are curious about, use your own photos where possible, check for grammar and spelling and facts and duplicate content. Reference when necessary, use the capsules wisely, study the HubPages help sections if you get stuck. Ask for help in the forums if you're not sure about something.
Don't be too upset or put off if you only receive a few views!! Best of luck.
Thanks a lot! Almost finished with my first hub!
If your goal is to make some money off your work, find your niche first.
personally I say just go for it and learn as you go. Get something out there. Use good common sense, basic grammer and english if not elemetary to assure format, and be sure you have fun. You have the power to change it and you have the power to delete it if does not work out for any reason or cause.
Just pretend it is your first cake being baked, or riding a bicycle down the street, or swimming just far enough away from the edge to grasp the side if you push off the bottom.
It is all fun, fun, fun and a learning experience. There is not good or bad only fun, fun, fun, with learning and that experience
Tim
thank you for your advice! I decided to go for it!
Go to the Learning Center on HubPages and learn all you can first. That way, you can be sure to avoid any mistakes that might get your first hub flagged for something silly, like keeping it too personal. Write about 50o or more words, use your own photos or properly attributed photos, make good use of all possible capsules, and cite any outside sources you use.

Simple rules:1. Do NOT start writing hub until I (as in ME only) says, IN this thread, "GO"2. One Hub. You have 30 minutes to write it, from scratch. (you can have your word doc open in advance etc., obviously, just no writing). No cheating and using something you started before.3....

My Amazon sales are dead in the water. My Amazon Caps are discrete - I have added only when directly related to a product.I am not getting much traffic at the mo, so I guess this is an issue. I posted around 60 Hubs in Dec 2014, so it should be these have not been picked up by Google as organic...

I'm sorry if this post offends anybody, but I am really getting tired of people who basically are non English speakers showing up, throwing a hub together without expending any effort to read the forums or the learning center to find out what they should be doing, and then asking for help to...

What's the single most important piece of advice you would give to a new hubber? What do you know now that you wished you'd know/ or been told when you started? What's the single most important piece of advice you would give to a new hubber?

Authors should be free to write about alternative medical treatments that they personally found useful for a minor ailment, but claiming a recipe cures all forms of stage 4 cancer, or any other serious terminal illness, is unethical. Especially if the hub is plugging a book with the same unsound...
