Why would my latest hub have such a low & dropping score?

My latest & tenth hub was the lowest rated I've had of the ten & instead of rising as all the others did, the score is dropping.  I believe it started at a 48 & is now a 45 but was also at 44 for a time.  I've looked at new hubs of other writers here that had grammar mistakes & spelling errors that started at least 5 points higher than mine or more.  It is another poem as I write more of those than articles, has only 3 pics & it's not of horrid quality so I just don't get it...it's frustrating.

Don't be frustrated. Just be confident in what you do. I have recently been publishing a series of short stories on which I have put so much effort. However, the hub score started at 45 and stuck below 50. It doesn't matter at all as long as you write what you want and you feel satisfied with it.

You're definately right about that!  That is the reason I'm here to begin with is to write what makes me satisfied, with myself.  Thanks.

How long is your poem?  I believe length factors into Hub Score.  HubPages wants material that is at least 700 words long.  What it really comes down to is HubPages is not the best place on the web to publish creative material such as poems.  They are moving in the direction of publishing pieces that get good search engine ranking and traffic, rather than creative pieces such as poems.

Hi Rock_nj - it is probably 1/2 of that in length but I have others that are almost exactly the same & they started out MUCH Higher.  That's what's really bothering me is that I've NEVER had a score that low & I just got home from work to fin

It's really hard for poems and other creative writings to do well in search engine results. This means it's just normal for them to have fewer page views compared to 'how to' guides, reviews, and other informative hubs. But don't be frustrated since its score will eventually go up though it would take some time. Good luck!

Hi dailytop10!  I've had Really Great responses from my poems with more readers than I ever thought I would.  I think something is off as I've never had so few pages views, across the board as yesterday & today and now that one Hub Score is at 42

Try giving it some time and the score will soon get settled into a more desirable threshold.

I guess this # in the 40's is far more 'Normal' than I realzied.  I've just never had one this low before.  Thanks!

agree with @hunbbel, give your latest hub some time to go up.  Everytime i publish my latest hub, the score is around 42 or so. It took 2 weeks to 1 month to score 65-75. Then it maintain that score without any changes. Have confidence. Your poem will be known to others when you post the link in twitter, facebook and backlinks.

I recommend steadily building up a hub over several days so that it accumulates a good score. Each hub I compile starts low, say 45, then gets higher over the days with each addition. When I send them out they are often in the 60's. I don't like sending out hubs that are in the 40's or 50's unless I absolutely have to.

Is this a way forward for you? It doesn't suit everyone. I wish you well in your hub venturing.

Hi Chef-de-jour!  I guess I don't understand how they build up over time before publishing as I thought only HP Staff could see them.  I'll get over it, just had a tantrum after such a low day yesterday & then waking to find, nothing had changed.

Okay- so as my hub score barely inches up (now at a whole 45) I keep asking myself why has this happened to this particular hub & WHY is it still in Pending Status after more than 24 hrs.  The only thing that I can come up with that I've done differently with this hub is using images from sites that I normally don't.  I could not find what I needed or envisioned in Wikimedia Commons so I went to & pulled from:  Photobucket, morgueFile & ImageHousing.com.  Could this be the reason behind the mysterious treatment that this hub is receiving?  It just makes zero sense!  I've even added to the hub to give it a higher word count, added an image and made improvements overall.  I wish HP could give us some hint, occasionally, of what problems might exist.  All the images I used were noted as 'Free Use' and if an author was noted, then I noted it, as well.  Completely, perplexed.
