D@mned thing still not lit. Called gas company. They said they would drop by on the 8th. I said no. Jeez, if I didn't have 2 space heaters I'd be dead now. It's a cold, cruel world out there.

Have you ever lit this particular pilot light before?  I know someone who tried to light a pilot light but was putting the fire in the wrong place.  Do you smell the gas when you turn it on? Is the gas working?  Are you using a long enough match so that the pilot has time to ignite?

Yep, all that. The only thing standing between me and an all electric home is the water heater, which incidentally is over 35 years old. Maybe 2015 is the year I dump the gas company altogether. After subtracting electric, still x hundred bucks saved.

paradigmsearch: Call gas company, tell them pilot out, and you smell gas!!!  Smell gas will  get their asses out there.

Bulletin! Got the d@mned thing lit and it still works; I've already alerted the media. After being off for 8 months, I thought I was doomed. That huddling next to the space heater was getting old real fast. Just in time, too. Low 30's tonight.
