i noticed from 28/12/204 that spam comments are coming through to my hubs, comments that don't make any sense and has nothing to do with the topic. How can this be resolved?
Unfortunately, occasionally SPAM comments are part of online writing.
You have the option to set each Hub such that comments must be approved before they show up.
You can also set them to only allow comments from logged in users.
I suggest setting your Hubs such that you have to approve comments.
http://hubpages.com/my/hubs/comments (see Show Settings)
You can then review the comments periodically and mark those SPAM that are.
The system then uses this information to help identify SPAM comments going forward so you can help other authors and yourself by marking SPAM comments.
That being said, it looks like there may have been a deluge of SPAM comments this last week and our engineering team is currently looking into how to address this going forward.
Yes, most writing site have spammers because thoseare lazy writers, they want you to go their site, nit original commentors
Thanks Matthew, i know these settings and already did so, but i have comment notifications and it is annoying to be going to the notification only to see spam or junk comments. Thanks for your quick response.
I got loads too this week. At first I was delighted to see so many e-mail notifications but then noticed the 'unverified user' labels. I should have known it was too good to be true LOL

However, if I go to a new comment in one of my hubs and click Approve, I cannot reply to it directly on the comment. Instead, I have to go to my main Comments page and find the now approved comment...

I started getting a few spammy comments a few days ago. I posted a thread and someone suggested changing my comment settings to allowing only signed in users being allowed to comment and approval before they were published. So I changed my settings. Today the spam was even worse, took me a half...

This week, several of my older hubs received comments. My delight upon hearing the news was short lived. All of them are written in horrid grammar and about half of them are clearly spam--either nonsensical code-like characters or advertisements for products not mentioned in my Hubs. Is anyone else...

Before reporting a problem I wanted to know if anyone else is having trouble with the comment notification. I usually receive an e-mail when I get a comment. I never changed my e-mail settings but for the past 24 hours I've received comments & not a single e-mail. I just checked my settings and...
