It's HP's latest experiment. It will eventually be rolled out network-wide. It's optional and will be made available to those of us who need additional tax deductions.
Every time I've shown negative earnings it was because someone purchased something, generally from amazon.com, and then returned that item.
It can be due to AdSense detecting click fraud. i.e. They deduct any income they think was generated by non-genuine customers.
I keep getting it myself every time I earn something. I used to just see it say $0.00. Must be an experiment

how do you figure that out? I mean mine had stopped earning 3 days back. It has been stuck at 9 cents since the time I've joined( which was a week back). Anyways, I guess there is some trouble with the traffic stats here. Check another thread for the similar discussion here...
