Making money from your writing online is something a lot of people want to do, but it really takes a lot of work. Here is what you need to know.

    1) The earning potential for your site is always going to be higher than the earning potential for Hubpages. However, for your own site you are going to need to build one that looks great, works well for those reading your content, and is easy to navigate. You are going to have to put a ton of work into creating content that will draw people. Additionally you won't make much on it until you have a lot of traffic.

    2) Making money on HubPages has some advantages. First of all the site is already here, works well, and someone maintains it for us. Second, there is already a lot of traffic coming here and a lot of content. Your content isn't the only content to draw in visitors. Finally, you can start making money a lot quicker because of these things.

Defining "A Lot" is always a problem. Hubpages has a lot of earning potential, but it depends on how much your write and what you write on. It will take time and work, but you need to figure out how much is a lot and which one would be for you. Another option is to do both (I never recommend putting all of your eggs in one basket when it comes to earning money online because you could wake up one day and find out that one basket isn't working anymore!).

    Good Luck!
