I can't stop grinning. After two years on HubPages, one of my articles has been deemed worthy of being copied verbatim on another website.
It's like being told I did such a great job on it that somebody wanted to copy it! Hahahahaha!
Of course, I kindly asked the copycat to take it down but still... I can't help feeling happy. Hehe.
Susan, instead of asking the copycat to take it down, ask the host to take it down. They don't want to be liable for plagiarism any more than any other business.
What if he is the owner of his site and its nothing like HP.
He had to get his hosting from somewhere. I suppose he -could- be hosting it on his own PC, but that is less and less common these days.
Alright. That's an interesting point. I don't think most hosts will let anyone bother them with this.
What I would do, and this takes only a few minutes of research, would be to find out who is hosting his site, find out what there TOS and EULA are. If there is anything about plagiarism or copied content, contact them... They will shut him down until they can figure out if there is a legitimate claim or not. They will worry about it because they don't want to be sued. Just sound professional in your communication with them, call them if you can, and they will take you seriously. If you email them stating ZOMG, taht dood st0l3 my stuff, they will delete your email in a heart beat. Copy their TOS or EULA and paste it into the email, showing you've done your research. Plagiarism is illegal and a serious crime.
I congratulate you with your optimism. Recently, I've seen people freak out for others copied their work. I find it amusing how easily they get mad or sad when someone else does things.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but the copycat mentioned my hub as the source of what he copied, so I'm sure there was no malice in it. It's okay even if he doesn't take it down.
Haha! Isn't it supposed to be Mighty Mouse who saves the day?!
No. It's supposed to be Panda Man who saves the day.
I even have a theme song.
Panda Man, Panda Man,
Does whatever a Panda can,
Eats bamboo, all the time,
Always off, fighting crimes,
Look out, here comes the Panda Man!
In the middle of the day,
He comes out just to play.
In the middle of the night,
He comes out to do what's right.
Panda Man, Panda Man,
Does whatever a Panda can,
Eats bamboo, all the time,
Always off, fighting crimes,
Look out, here comes the Panda Man,
Here comes the Panda Man,
Here comes the PANDA MAN!!!
Good one. I'll be dreaming of crime-fighting pandas tonight. Haha!
I have a friend by the name of spider pig as well. Yay, you like my theme song.
You're friends with Homer Simpson's pig? Wow, you must be some celebrity! Haha!

I filed a DMCA report for a page that copied my hub. The hub existed as a lens since 12/12/10.The content is obviously and clearly copied and even mentions that it was taken from Squidoo at the top. Yet Google rejected the URL for removal.I hope it is OK to list the URLs here so people trying to...

There is a website that has copied from 3 Hubs I have here--very likely even more. They have though changed the words around so to disguise, but it is clear that they have used my articles to get all their ideas as every paragraph section tackles the same subjects and this can't be a mere...

I had a hub copied by another site. I sent a DMCA complaint and rather than removing my hub, they changed the title and the wording slightly. Is altering a hub for use on another site without the author's permission considered legal? Is this now considered a completely different...

Help! I need some advice. Another one of my hubs has been copied verbatim with all the pictures, and the one who copied it indirectly refused to remove it.Three days ago I left a comment on his site politely asking him to remove my article but got no response for two days. This prompted me to file...

I had one hub that was doing extremely well for views and then suddenly it seemed to be getting less and less traffic by the day. I decided to check if it had been copied and guess what, it had, word for word! The site that it was copied on is called 'Digital academy the film school wordpress', and...
